Photographing Our Furry Friends
Our pets are part of our family and worth capturing for our photo albums and scrapbook pages. But how do you get good photogenic shots of your furry friends? I’ve gathered some tips for you to help you make your pet portrait a standout! Julie captures great photos of her dogs Roxy and Aspen, whether they are resting or running. Here are her tips for capturing great shots. Be patient! I’ve been known to sit silently for what feels like forever, shutter button pressed half down, squinting through the viewfinder, waiting for that perfect moment for eyes to close, head to turn slightly, ears to perk up. Patience pays off! It’s okay to shoot in an automatic mode! I lost a lot of great shots thinking I needed to shoot in manual, either because I was messing with my settings, or because they turned a different direction and my lighting completely … [Read more...]
Essentials
Today I want to remind you about the essentials section in the store, and also to show you some of my personal essentials. The essentials section was initially created for those people new to digital scrapbooking to start with a good foundation of products that they will use for a long time in a lot of different ways because we all know how daunting it can be when you first start, and trying to find products that are good value for money. There are almost 100 alphas, papers and element packs that will stand the test of time and trends. Some of my favorites in the essentials section Papers by Jacque Larsen. I have used these for digital and hybrid pages, both in full 12x12 and reduced in size. Postage Frames by Amy Martin. So versatile, with gorgeous shadows, or not if you prefer. A classic staple for anyone’s stash. … [Read more...]

Paislee Press
Today is my birthday and what a great day to announce the arrival of Paislee Press to the Lilypad! Liz Tamanaha is the designer behind Paislee Press and someone I have admired for some time. Her style is minimalistic, but always with a unique flair. You can read more about Liz and her work on the Paislee Press blog. Be sure to check out her amazing Project Life work while you’re there.I had the opportunity of interviewing Liz about herself as a designer and a creative person, and here is what she had to say. How, when and why did you start designing? It all happened..by accident. I started scrapbooking (paper first) in 2001. The first time I opened photoshop it was to "stitch" together two scans of a 12x12 paper layout so I could post it online. Then slowly, I started using photoshop more regularly for photo editing. I didn’t venture into digital scrapbooking until … [Read more...]

Automatic Memory Keeping
A couple of months ago, I started using If This Then That to automatically gather all my social networking updates into Evernote. I had read an article on Lifehacker about it. I loved the idea that I could gather my Facebook status updates, my Twitter tweets, my Instagram photos and captions, and my blog updates straight into a note in Evernote, without me having to do any of the work! Each new update appends to the previous ones in the note, and fairly soon, I had a time line of all my social networking activity that I could refer back to for memory keeping. I could see this being very useful to refer back to when doing Project Life scrapbooking, or just to see what happened in your social networking world on a particular day. I even use it to keep track of blog posts that I’ve read in my Google Reader that I like. If I “star” it in Google … [Read more...]
An EASY Fall Craft For You!
Hey there! Brandi here again. I just finished the cutest burlap wreath last week (I actually made two) and I thought I would share with you the process on how it's made. (Sometimes I don't know what I would do with out Pinterest!!) First, you'll need to go to your local craft store and pick up some supplies unless you have them on hand (I went to JoAnn's):• Foam wreath •• Glue gun •• Burlap •(depends on the size of the wreath but for a medium sized one I would say close to 2 yards, more is better)• Wide ribbon •(preferably with wire in it)• Twine •• Fall decoration pieces •• Gorilla Super Glue •• Phillips head screwdriver •• Rotary cutter (not necessary) or Scissors •• Cutting Mat & ruler (if using rotary cutter) •∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞Let's get started!Cut out about 4x4" squares of burlap.
