August Challenges

Hello everyone!  Polly Karen here!  It’s August and I’m here to show off the 8 monthly challenges that the Challenge Polly’s have created for this month.  Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.)  You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store.  (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%).  This month we have one change.  Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate!  Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?!  You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat GC prize!!!  Woo-hoo! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!

1.  Photography Challenge – This month’s Photography Challenge is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she is challenging you to scrap a scanned photo.  This is a great opportunity to dig into some older pre-digital photos that might otherwise be ignored!  Here is a great sample layout created by Ashley:

2.  Inspiration Challenge – Heather (talktoheather) is hosting August’s Inspiration Challenge and she found an image of fabric swatches that reminded her of back to school time when she used to get new shoes before school started.  You could be inspired by the colors, the theme, the patterns or anything from the image.  Here’s the image followed by a layout created by Heather:

3.  Template Challenge – Courtney (bestcee) is hosting August’s Template Challenge.  The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Valorie Wibbens and create a layout using it.  Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample created by Courtney:

4.  Scraplift Challenge – August’s scraplift challenge, hosted by Anne (AnneofAlamo) is to find a layout from her huge Pinterest board of paper layouts and then create a digital version inspired by it.   Anne picked this page from her board and then created the following scraplifted layout:

5.  Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for August is being hosted by our guest Polly Karen (KarenB).  She is challenging you to create a layout about “where you live,” but not the house you live in, but something about the city or town or area you live in that you love.  Karen has listed a bunch of great ideas in the forum to get you started too.  Here is a layout Karen created about the seagulls around her house:

6.  Style Challenge – Lory (lcpereyra) is hosting this month’s Style Challenge.  Lori would like you to create a clean mixed media page, so add some stamps, paints, gesso, stitching, etc to a page, but maintain some clean white/empty space too.  Here is a great example layout she created:

7.  Journaling Challenge – Jenn (jenn mccabe) is hosting the Journaling Challenge for August and would like you to create a layout and journal on it about something that takes your breath away and fills you with emotion.  Jenn created this beauty about a photo of when her daughter was really little:

8.  BYOC Challenge – Last but not least we have the BYOC Challenge.  This challenge will be hosted and posted by Heather (HeatherB) on Friday August 4th, when the new BYOC collection for August will be released in the store.  This challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

I really love writing up these posts each month and seeing the creative ideas our Polly’s come up with each month!!  Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above.  Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum.  See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the August Challenge Pad HERE to get started!  Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month.  I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Happy scrapping!
