Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for April. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Photography Challenge – The first challenge for April is the Photography Challenge hosted by Lori (lcpereyra). Lori would like to challenge you to focus on capturing a photograph of something in your life that has changed. Lori captured this great photo of her son participating in a college tour from the comfort of their couch at home since college visits are cancelled right now:
2. Style Challenge – Anne (AnneofAlamo) is hosting this month’s Style challenge. Anne would like you to focus on something/someone in a photo by having one photo with part of that photo cut out and used a second time on your layout. You can even do that more than once like Anne did on her fabulous sample layout:
3. Template Challenge – Jenn (jk703) is hosting the Template Challenge for April. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Lynn Grieveson and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Jenn created:
4. Journaling Challenge – The journaling challenge for this month is another great one for capturing the current events happening all over our world right now. This challenge is hosted by Heather (HeatherB) and she is challenging you to create a layout with journaling about your life right now. Here’s a great sample layout she created too:
5. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for April is being hosted by Em (Justagirl) and she is challenging you to get wordy and use at least 5 word chip/short quotes or phrases on a layout. Em’s great layout has both word bits from a kit and some of her own that she typed onto the page:
6. Random Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting this month’s Random Challenge. Ashley would like you to create a layout about staying connected. One thing I have loved about this world gone crazy is that the creative ways that people have been finding to stay connected to each other. I actually have a Zoom chat set up with my girlfriends from college. We’ve often struggled to find a time to get together all in one place at the same time and now I’m asking myself why we haven’t done this online chatting before? Here’s a great layout Ashley created about her small group on Zoom too:
7. Scraplift Challenge – This month’s Scraplift Challenge is hosted by Christa (cfile) and she chose the very talented Farrah (FarrahJobling)’s Gallery to scraplift from in April. Simply go to Farrah (FarrahJobling)’s Gallery and find one layout you love and then create your own scraplifted version. Christa found a great layout in Farrah’s gallery and then scraplifted it:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Natasha (bcnatty) on Friday, April 3rd when April’s BYOC Collection will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There you have your at-a-glance overview of this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the April Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
