Seasonal Inspiration: Here for the Food!
Whether you have a traditional feast and a full-on fine dining experience or more humble fare through Thanksgiving and the coming holidays, wherever you are, this time of year food photography can take centre stage on a scrapbook page and I’m here with some gallery inspo I’ve collected to inspire you.
Photo op’s abound from the prep and cooking through to the carving, plating and sharing. This is also a chance to commemorate the effort and action of the kitchen crew. Maybe you or the resident chef tried a new technique or recipe? Don’t forget the table decorations and details (especially if you are pulling out the ‘good plates’!) and if they’re a cooperative bunch, a few shots of those that have gathered, whether it be as a group staged photo or more photojournalistic snapshots from the event will be priceless in years to come.

Look at the steam coming off the main course in the top photo – I don’t think you could get much closer to capturing the whole roast dinner fragrance!
A bird’s eye view of the table is both a fantastic photo idea and background paper alternative!
Such a great combo of candid and cute group shots and fun and formal style design and product use!
It’s all about perspective here, both through the lens and details like the menu added in the journalling – gotta love no one spilling the juice this year!
If you are like me and you feel like the table or buffet area is a hot mess (so not the case in the above page by Addie), you can use your page design and framing to bring some order to the chaos – I love these nestled frames and linear design!
I do love that the food pics feel like they are situated on the buffet table here with the cool clustering and element use!
And this page has a similar linear design but totally different style and vibe!
Can’t forget dessert and this pie chart design is so clever with the pie photo!

And again, yes, things don’t always go to plan but that’s life and I’m all for scrapping realism! Great for looking back on and learning or laughing about with some distance! Hope you feel inspired to tackle some of your backlog of food photos or excited to document upcoming events!
