Using Cut Outs As A Mask For Hybrid

Hey there!  Katrina, aka katrinahunt13, sharing another hybrid layout with you.  I am going to show you how you can use cut outs that you see in the shop for getting artsy on a hybrid layout.  Now, I am the first to admit, I love “stuff” on my pages, but I don’t go toward the artsy side.  After doing this layout, I think I may try it more!

I dove into the BYOC for February for this layout.  I used the following kits:  Hedge Hugs | Bella Gypsy   Happy Hearts  |  Becca Bonneville  Olive You Paper, Elements | Allison Pennington and finally Love Cut Outs  |  Scrapping With Liz.

I started by cutting out the LOVE file from my Cameo.  After doing this, I realized that I am not limited by “what size the mask or stencil is that I bought” and I can make these any size I want!!  How fun is that!  I figured out where I wanted the cut out on my page and then used some removable tape to hold it in place.

Then I started painting over with some fun heavy body acrylic paints that I had picked up at the craft store on clearance.

I let this dry for a few minutes, because, well…I know me and I would have made a big mess if I hadn’t.  And my bad, I totally forgot to take a picture after I pulled the cut out up!  But while this was drying, I took the negative piece and finished out the circle so that I could add the pattern paper to that part of the cut out.

Then I trace the V and cut it out of another paper, then the fun began of embellishing.  I started to only do the O and V, but then the “liking stuff” came into play and I ended up decorating all the spaces!

So, I had a little fun of trying something new, getting a little messy when I normally don’t and came up with an idea for resizing some things and using them down the line.  I love when a plan comes together!  Have a great week!  And don’t forget to upload your hybrid projects to the gallery, we would love to see them!
