This is One Hoppin’ Gallery!
Peppermint here, for Tadpole Tuesday! This past weekend The Lilypad opened the doors to its Layout Gallery and Chat Forums. Hanging out here at the Pad has always been a barrel of laughs for me, and I’ve been fortunate enough to call this place “home” for the past several months – so I’m thrilled to have all these new faces showing up in the forum, because you really have to experience daily life here at The Lilypad to understand what all the fuss is about. One of the things I’ve always admired about the girls here at The Lilypad is that no one takes themselves too seriously, and everyone is always eager to put a smile on someone else’s face.
We’ve come up with a ton of new challenges, and you have an entire month to enter them, which gives everyone plenty of time to jump in and play with us! From now on our challenges will be run on the message boards – which means that Tuesdays on The Lilypad Blog will now give one of the Pollywogs a chance to pick a couple of layouts that really “hopped” out at us from the gallery.
My first pick this week was Ready? by Nettie B. I’m a HUGE fan of journaling, I used to never journal on my page, but found that when it came time to print them out I really seemed to value the ones that I wrote on the most. A picture speaks a thousand words … sure … but why not add fifty more? I love the big block of journaling on this page, and how it anchors the composition against the right side and leads my eye straight down to the title. It’s pure genius!
New Habits by Lisa Carroll is another that caught my eye immediately because of the journaling I spotted from the preview. Maybe I’m just nosy, but I always want to open them up and read them! The felt fruit was just a huge bonus for me. Felt fruit – I mean – need I say more? I love a monochromatic layout with just a splash of an alternate color, so the blue frame and just those two tiny chunks of blue paper totally made this page for me. Would have been totally easy to go green the whole way, but the blue adds that little “pop” that takes it to the next level.
