Froggy Finds: Alphas
Greetings, Pad Scrappers!
Polly Liana here with another installment of Froggy Finds. This month, we’re rolling back in time to find fabulous alphas released long ago that you may have never seen before or overlooked. As you might know, a good alpha is the key to a spectacular title. We have so many terrific alphas, from hand-drawn to clean and simple, to super funky and everything in between.
First up, you really can’t write about “vintage” alphas without including work by CD Muckosky. A long-time Lilypad designer, she has gifted us many amazing alphas that will give your mixed media layout a hand-created feel. Here are some of my favorites:
If you’re looking for clean, simple alphas that can be used with anything, look no further than alphas by Sahlin Studio. I have long loved her alphas because they are very realistic and versatile. Here are some that work well with any layout:
Way back when, One Little Bird dabbled in alphas, bringing simplicity and and elegance to them. They are a perfect compliment to OLB’s minimalism and neutral palette. I love that I can use them seamlessly with anything:
Lastly (but not leastly) Kim Jensen has lots of fantastically eclectic alphas that work beautifully with your fun, playful and clever layout. Who knew when she released this more than ten years ago that she’d make the perfect alpha for the recent friendship bracelet trend? Here are some others I love, too:
Tomorrow, I’ll be bringing you some more alpha blasts from the pasts in our second installment. See you then!
