10 Holiday Traditions Your Family Will Love
‘Tis the season for creating memories! I can’t think of a better way to create memories during this time of year than establishing holiday traditions that you and your family will love and cherish for years to come.

Today I thought it would be fun to share with you a list of ten holiday traditions that your family will love! These are all easy to incorporate into your family’s schedule during this busy time of the year.
Countdown the days until Christmas with a fun Advent calendar…our family has used different Advent calendars each year. This year we’re using the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar and my kids are loving it so much!
Take a picture with Santa…this doesn’t have to be only for the little ones. Have fun with it and do a family selfie with Santa!
Write letters to Santa…help your kids write letters to Santa and mail them to the North Pole. You can even throw a twist into this and have your kids write about things they are grateful for this year.
Bake Christmas cookies…I’ve learned that these don’t have to be spectacular or homemade, my kids just love being invited into the kitchen with me. You can do this in one huge baking day or, if your family is larger, bake with each child a little each day during the week leading up to Christmas.
Give the kids a new ornament every year…I love hearing about this tradition from friends who grew up doing this. They left home with an entire set of Christmas ornaments of their own. I try to pick out ornaments unique to each of my children.
Drive around looking at Christmas lights…do a little research and find the best or most tackiest Christmas lights display in your area. Make it an extra special night with hot cocoa and Christmas tunes.
Decorate Gingerbread Houses…I have to admit this one has intimidated me, but I’ve seen some great looking kits that I am tempted to try. And I know this is something that my kids would love!
Have a Christmas movie night…I’ve cancelled or normal Saturday night movie night this month and it’s all Christmas movies for us! You can watch your favorite Christmas movies throughout the month or have a marathon and watch them all on one special day.
Volunteer with a local charity…there are so many needs during this time of the year. Reaching out to meet the needs of those less fortunate can bring the true meaning of the holiday season to life in your family.
Wear new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve…how about letting everyone open one gift on Christmas Eve, a new pair of pajamas for this magical night!
Do you have established Holiday traditions that you look forward to each year? If so, I’ve love to hear about them in the comments! And if not, consider adding one of these to your Holiday season.
