Where Do You Begin?
I was cruising around the forums the other day, and I found a thread that really got me thinking. In THIS thread, Polly Courtney asks about how people start their scrapbooking pages. Some of the possible answers were with the photos, the story, or a kit. I was so interested to see the variety of answers that followed, that it got me thinking, does how we go about starting a layout matter so much? Further, does how you start a page depend on what you find the most important?
If you start with photos, or the story, does it automatically mean that you find preserving your memories to be the most important thing about this hobby? Â If you start with a kit or a template, are you predisposed to view this hobby as more of a creative outlet? It seems so hard to put everyone in a category like that. Is our approach to scrapbooking that easily defined?
Many people in the thread talked about the fact that there are many different ways that they start a page. There is never the same entry point. Sometimes, you may start with the photo, other times with a kit…it may depend on what you are creating the page for or what is on your list to complete. This seems the most like how I scrap. Often times, I am inspired by a kit and then find a picture and story to go with it, however, if there’s a good story that I want to share, I use that as my starting point. Funnily enough, I don’t really think about it.
How do you start your pages? Do you think it matters what you do first?
