The Best Camera

Do you know what my opinion is regarding which camera is the best camera?
It’s the one that you have with you!  As a scrapbooker, I love the quality of the photos that I can achieve with my DSLR, but I love even more the everyday moments that I capture with my little Canon pocket camera, my little pocket waterproof Olympus, my iPod Touch, and my Blackberry.

I’m not afraid to take my little Canon anywhere.  It is always in my purse.  I have taken over 19,000 photos with it and I love it to pieces.  I probably wouldn’t have gotten this shot of my sister, brother in law, and my nephews getting hit by a wave when they turned their back on the ocean.  (Never turn your back on the ocean!)

I also love to take photos of the food I cook or eat.  A couple of the food photos I’ve taken with my little Canon pocket camera have appeared on the America’s Test Kitchen blog!

I’m not afraid to take my little Canon anywhere, which allowed for spontaneous shots like this:  wading into the water in Hawaii.

I’ve been a regular runner for 14 years now.  I used to take my little Canon with me on my runs, but now I just take my Blackberry because it’s safer to run with a phone, and I can’t carry that many gadgets on a run.  Although the photo quality on my Blackberry is not the best, at least I have it with me and can capture shots while running, such as this one.

And if I really wanna get crazy and go into the water, I take my waterproof Olympus pocket camera with me.  I was able to take photos of a last minute boogie board session at the end of summer.  I was riding a wave next to my husband and got this shot.  While the photo wasn’t perfect, I captured a joyful moment in life that I would have never gotten if I hadn’t taken the little Olympus with me.

If you’re considering doing Project 365 or Project Life, your phone camera and small pocket camera will become your best friend.  It makes the project so easy, because you can whip out your little camera from your purse at any time and catch a shot.  I wouldn’t have been able to complete Project 365 in 2009 for the whole year if it wasn’t for my little Canon SD 850 IS.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
