Hi, it’s Polly Rae here, and I’m going to share with you some Thanksgiving page ideas that might inspire you in your page design.
Thanksgiving is a North American annual national holiday and commemorates the harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621 and is held on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. In Canada, the holiday for giving thanks for a good harvest is held on the second Monday in October. A traditional meal is usually ham or turkey. In my family, my mom’s fave was ham and was served with scalloped potatoes. My fave is turkey as I love turkey with cranberry sauce and spoonfuls of flavorful dressing. Yum! I always take photos of the food served on Thanksgiving.
My page shows the food we served that day and also shows some of my family sitting quietly in the kitchen, enjoying each other’s company and the good food. The men usually sit in the living room watching football or home improvement shows on TV.
Some food related ideas for your page design are:
- what was the menu?
- who attended?
- what was for dessert?
- what prep work and cleanup was done and who helped?
- favorite dish and least favorite dish?
Other page ideas are:
- holiday decor around your home
- movies or TV shows watched
- sports (football)
- any visiting relative/friends
- itinerary for the day
- outdoor activities
- any craft projects
- church services, school events
I’m trying to incorporate more journaling into my pages, to share more about my life and family. Some journaling ideas to incorporate in your page design are:
- past and present Thanksgiving celebrations
- memories from your childhood
- what you are thankful for
- any plans that went awry and didn’t turn out as expected
- funny, momentous moments
- “about me” things such as your feelings that day, what did you wear, what did you say, what embarrassed you
- what was the talk around the dinner table about
I hope that these ideas give you some inspiration for your page design and to get you started, you will find the link for The Lilypad Thanksgiving section in the store HERE. You’ll find the kit I used for my page there (Merci by Little Butterfly Wings). Have fun creating your thanksgiving pages, everyone!
