Hi everyone, Sarah here and I’m excited to share a few more of my art journaling pocket pages with you. The thing that I absolutely love about this set of pocket pages is that they are done entirely with premade journaling cards and nothing else. There are no extra embellishments, I didn’t add any stamps or washi tape, and no alphabet stickers. I simply took the journal cards as is, and added my journaling, either by hand, or by typing on the digital version of the journal card before printing.
There are so many amazing journal card packs in the store, I thought this was a great way to showcase the amazing work of The Lilypad designers, while taking inspiration from these cards and adding my own voice to them.
I chose these two packs to work with.
Life in Color by CD Muckosky.
Wishful Heart Cards by Sara Gleason.
For this first page I really embraced the art journaling feel of CD’s cards. I love how bright and happy the cards are and took the prompts as inspiration to write about how happy I am that my husband and I are in the same house every day and why that makes me so happy.
This next page made with Sara’s packs is a little more subdued but I loved the message of the cards in the pack to hold onto your dreams. I added my journaling in a fun font, Heather Joyce’s The Kinda Hollow, before printing it out.
The last page I did is a continuation of the previous page and is the opposite page in my album. I had fun meshing cards from both packs to create this page detailing my biggest wish.
There are an amazing array of journaling card packs in the store, and any of them would work for art journaling, but I wanted to share a few that I found really inspirational for this project. I love cards that prompt me and inspire me some way, whether it through a quote, a word or two, or simply the colors and overall feel of the cards.
I really love that it is so easy to take a few of the fabulous cards available and create your own piece of art by adding a bit of journaling. If you decide to give this a try, make sure to join in our pocket scrapping art journaling challenge in the forums. The current challenge is all about keeping it simple and only using journal cards, and there’s a chance to win a $2 coupon from the Quirky Heart (formally Michelle Godin) store. I can’t wait to see what you create!
