Out of This World-Art Journaling

Energy and CREATing are melded together in some completely wild pages in the ARt JournAliNG challenge this month! Polly Dalis (doesn’t that have a nice ring to it?), has reached into her bag of awesome and come up with the challenge to create worlds! Each week, a new “world” challenge is revealed to entice and inspire you to  make a page of wonder! 

On Friday, every Friday, Dalis hosts a chat for all interested, addicted and or wondering if Art JourNaling is really for them.  I should give a warning here, art journaling is addictive.  It has been known to captivate your life and even <gasp> spill onto your regular memory keeping pages.  Sometimes the two even blend together!  The chat is not necessary to participate in the challenge, but a time to be reinvigorated.  There are also prizes just for coming to chat, and that is inspiring too! 

If you should miss the chat, Dalis posts the weekly challenges in the forum here. The great part about this challenge, is you can start anytime in the month. You just jump in and start creating with the challenges.  Each week a portion of a world is shown along with the “challenge”.  Here are a couple of pages from the last two weeks to give you the itch to give it a whirl:

I’m a creative who pulls inspiration from all corners of life—both the joyful highs and the real-life moments that punch you in the gut. Honestly, I don’t think I can pin down a single scrapbooking style for myself, so let’s just go with eclectic. My layouts really depend on my mindset. If I’m in a deep, cerebral mood, you’ll likely see something chaotic and messy. If I’m more relaxed, it tends to come out clean, simple, and structured.

My brain is usually running on several channels at once, so it’s completely normal for me to be working on a digital layout, dabbling in a hybrid project, and getting messy with art journaling or mixed media—all at the same time.

Here are a few of my go-to tools: Digital: Adobe Photoshop CC + my MacBook; Photos: Canon Rebel or iPhone; Hybrid: Cricut Joy + sewing machine; Art Journaling: watercolors, stencils, and artsticks

And when it comes to embellishments—digital or physical—I’m always reaching for messy threads, ribbons, and Polaroids. Always the Polaroids.
