Make It Monday Z-Fold Card
Happy summer! Polly Robin here with another Make It Monday blog post. Today I thought I’d show you how I made a fun z-fold card. I saw the globe element in the newest MPM Journey kit, and knew I wanted to use it for a card. This is the kit I used:
As usual, I went to Photoshop to plan it out and came up with a design like this:
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use a colored circle or a white circle on the inside of my card, so I printed off both:
I printed my background paper and then cut it to 8 inches by 5 inches and glued it on top of an 8.5 inch by 5.5 inch piece of cardstock. I normally don’t use cardstock since I like to print all my papers, but in this case, I needed it to be double-sided so I found something from my stash that worked. Whew! After I glued both pieces together, I made two score lines (one at 2 1/8 inches, one at 4 ¼ inches). Then I folded it to look like a “Z” (hence the name “z-fold card” hehehe!):
I cut out all my elements and decided to use the white circle with my sentiment. I took a piece of painter’s tape, and lined up the circle with my globe and temporarily taped them together. You can see how I did that here with the front of the globe on top and then I turned it over on the second picture so you could see what it looked like on the other side:
So, with the two pieces taped together, I figured out my placement and glued the back of the sentiment circle to the inside of my card. I then separated the globe from the sentiment, lined it up, and glued just the left half onto the front of the z-fold. The right side hangs over the fold and completely covers up the circle sentiment! Here’s what it looks like open:
And here is what it looks like closed:
That’s it! It’s a simple card to make and I know my daughter will love it. Sometimes you just need to send a card letting your kid know how much they mean to you, and this one is perfect for doing just that.
Hope you like this card and thanks for taking the time to read through how I created it! See y’all in July ????
