Hybrid Cards with Labels and Frames

Whenever I look at a digital kit, I can see using it for more than just scrapbooking.  I love making handmade greeting cards to give to friends and family, so today I’m going to show you how I used some digital packs from The Lilypad to make some greeting cards!

I printed my digi elements and used my Silhouette digital cutter to cut them out.  I also used the sketch function on my Silhouette to draw onto paper.  You can certainly hand-cut the elements after printing them out if you don’t have a digital cutter.  If you do have a Silhouette, I posted a video tutorial earlier this year on printing & cutting any digital elements using the Silhouette.

Card #1:  doodled frame card using Valorie Wibbens’ Silly Frilly Frames

The doodled frames were perfect for the sketch function on the Silhouette!  I traced the digi elements in my Silhouette Studio software and used some of my Sharpie pens and Sakura glitter pens to draw the frames onto my card.  Here is the sketching in action.

I used my Silhouette to print and cut a bunch of elements out from Laura Grier’s Everyday Story Doodles to add to my card.

And here’s the finished card.  Pretty cute eh?

Card #2:  doodled frame card using Jacque Larsen’s Thin Doodley Frames
I used the same process as the first card to sketch out the frames with my Silhouette.  Here’s the finished card after adding more of the doodles from Lauren Grier.
Card #3:  thank you card using Gina Miller’s Boho Fair Sticker Frames
I printed and cut the frames with my Silhouette again.  Then I just arranged them onto my card and adhered each frame.
I used foam dots to pop up the frame with the “Thanks So Much” on it to make it stand out.  I also used some clear stamps and ink to stamp on some of the blank frames to add some variety and interest.
Card #4:  birthday card using Amy Wolff’s Mega Label Pack #2
Using the same process as card #3 above, I adhered a bunch of the labels to a card and stamped some hearts onto some blank labels.

I love using digital elements for more than scrapbooking.  I hope you are inspired to make some cards with frames and labels!  🙂
