Far from being boring, like writing your spelling list words out a thousand times to learn something by rote, repetition in design can create a cohesive look and enhance a layout and give emphasis. You can reinforce and idea or theme with repetition as well as creating consistency and richness with or without filling the page!

Let’s look at some of your examples that use the design principle of repetition.

You can ground a design by repeating a shape as the base and create unity or a fun patterned background
