Wrapping? uh nada | pad patter 12.19.2018

I kinda enjoy wrapping but wish I had the money to buy the really pretty silver/red/blue paper and make them look so professional but there is just not enough paper on those rolls.
I go wrapping paper shopping the day after Christmas. Usually, first thing in the morning the stores aren't too busy, but the paper is 75-90% off!

It cost me almost $80 to send 4 packages using flat rate boxes. I'd much rather spend the $$ on another gift or two.
I sent DH and munchkin on a 5 hour roundtrip car ride Monday. They met my MIL halfway from her place, had lunch together, traded presents, and came home. It may have ended up the same cost, but much more pleasant than paying the post office for it! And munchkin was thrilled to see his Grammy!

Which just makes me paranoid that I've forgotten something
This. I totally feel this. Of course, that's always because all the last minute shoppers in my family who keep sending me things! I mean, I'm totally grateful! But it's driving me nuts to have things trickling in.

:hide I actually love wrapping. I used to do it for my mom, starting about 10 years old. When DH and I were married, no kids, we would spend Christmas Eve helping a family friend wrap things after their kids were in bed. In fact, there may have been a slight argument at my house this week when I thought DH was stealing wrapping some presents from me..>

I'll let myself out....:backing

I bought books for everyone this year and in an actual store. There is this gorgeous large bookstore in my new town. So I just asked them to wrap them all. They did an amazing job, with different papers and bits and pieces. They even added pretty gift tags and let me write the name right then and there. So sure, I like wrapping. :giggle
It helped that I as early in December and on a weekday, so I didn't held up other costumers.

We buckled down and wrapped everything yesterday. It took forever, but it's done! Now to clean up the mess we made in the process.

I'm seriously thinking about making fabric gift bags this coming year and use those in the future. No more paper to purchase and super easy to use. They'll take just a few minutes each to make, and I'll also be using up some of my fabric stash. Now to follow through and actually make the things!

I love the ones Tracie showed above! It's a great idea.

I don't love or hate wrapping gifts. It's a chore, but I don't mind it when I'm doing it. This year I wrapped all my gifts in about an hour. I really only wrap the kids' gifts. Hubby gets gift bags that I pull from our stash. When Santa brings gifts, they are always unwrapped - my two older have outgrown Santa and my youngest is only 1.5, so I didn't get any reprieve this year, lol.

That's such a cute idea Anne! Can't wait to see the pics after the big reveal! I am not fond of wrapping - I did have to wrap some that were donation items for adopted families for the holidays. I'll wrap a few for my girl (just bc I love to see her open stuff on Christmas morning even though she's 17 and pretty much knows most of what she is getting) and then I'll put a few in gift bags. Everyone else will get a gift bag to make it easier. We really cut back on gift buying for others these last few years so there's not much to worry about truthfully!
