I am gonna get away with absolutely no wrapping this year! I feel set free!
I got 4 pretty boxes for my bigs. Inside are all their important papers that mom has had filed. They are all grown now. Time to make their own files. Plus their ornaments, and fun things from childhood.
We do stockings, but no wrapping of those ever! Cause I tried one year and forgot what was what and with 7 kids it was a crazy disaster!
Our boys are getting ONE big present from us. HOvEr Boards! They do not expect them, and we are putting them in the VAN. The boys think we are having an adventure Christmas, going somewhere instead of presents. So, we are gonna open stockings, eat breakfast, then head to the VAN!
OOOOOOOOOOoooh and the best part, I sleep in, have a good breakfast and no wrapping!
So, do you hate wrapping too? or love it?

It's definitely not my favorite thing to do. I do it though. That's all part of the excitement on Christmas morning.

I don't love to wrap, but it's not too awful when I can do square boxes. Those go much faster and I do it because my boys just love to unwrap gifts. It's the excitement of seeing what's inside each package, so for that, I'll do it. I also use a lot of tape to slow them down a bit. :giggle

Your Christmas sounds perfect Anne! They are going to love those hoverboards!! I can't wait to see pictures of them learning to use them! :)

I wrap the presents from us. I don't wrap the presents from Santa. My youngest hasn't mentioned whether he believes or not, so we are still following that lead. I don't necessarily like wrapping, but it's because there are SO many to wrap, lol! When I have less, I like it more and try to make it look pretty! :giggle Plus, I know the boys love to unwrap the wrapping!

I don't enjoy wrapping but I'm doing it. I though my son was coming on Friday, but he texted this morning that he would be here today...so I got all of his gifts wrapped! My daughter loves wrapping and when she lived here, she did it for me. So I'm hoping she moves back to this area! :)

I'm not a fan of wrapping, so I spent a couple afternoons last week and another this week sewing reusable gift bags! I went to a local makers' space and with the help of the owner I ended up with 15 last week and yesterday we did another 10!

Here's a page from my DYD about the ones I did last week...

I can't wait to use them and I'm itching to make more. These are basically for us to use at our house under the tree, but I would like to make more for the presents we give to people outside of our house.

ETA: It's not that we have that many presents under the tree.... it's more about having a variety of sizes available.

OMG....Anne...that sounds like so much fun! The pics of them when they realize they've been duped are going to be hilarious! What fun!

We've had such a stressful busy yr that we want Xmas to be very low key. We decided to go easy on the gifts and spent less than half of what we used to which also meant much less time having to go out shopping which was nice. So wrapping won't be too stressful. I'll get it done this wkend. I bring everything into the kitchen and set up a wrapping station at the table and counter and hubs and I can get thru it pretty quick.

With 8 grandkids (ranging from 13 to 5) I wrap. I also make sure each grand has the same number of presents so this year 3 presents each kid (24 packages) plus my 2 kids and 2 in-laws. That is a lot of wrapping but I do enjoy watching their faces as they unwrap.

I kinda enjoy wrapping but wish I had the money to buy the really pretty silver/red/blue paper and make them look so professional but there is just not enough paper on those rolls.

Presents are all wrapped and put in bags for each kid (easier to transport and keep track of each kid). I am ready for Christmas on Sunday (this allows the kids to spend Christmas day with their in-laws).

I was thinking (as I was frantically trying to get things wrapped for shipping) that every year I promise myself that I will take the time to do some fun wrapping. I've pinned lots of fun ideas on Pinterestm, but I always seem to be doing frantic, last-minute, easy peasy stuff, "get something on this present so it's done" wrapping. I still have my local family's presents to wrap, but for that we typically re-use the same gift bags over and over...

I used to love it, but now that I need to ship things across country I don't spend much time on it at all. Things would just get squished, so no bows or anything fancy. Next year I'll just be sending gift cards because the cost of shipping has skyrocketed! It cost me almost $80 to send 4 packages using flat rate boxes. I'd much rather spend the $$ on another gift or two.

My dream job as a child (it still is... :blush ) : wrap presents at a store. Back in my childhood, every bookstore, toystore etc. had a wrapping corner. For free.

I love the whole concept giving-wrapping-and-unwrapping. The more the better!

This is the fifth year that the Girl Scouts in our area have run a gift wrapping booth at a local mall as a fundraiser. We can wrap! Skillet - bring it, basket ball - bring it, wooden tray in the shape of NC filled with cheeses - bring it! We even dragged along the 19 yr old son and taught him to wrap --- he will make some wife happy some day...

However, after a very stressful session of working last year, I am not working this year, just the DD is working. It has been nice. Of course, I will miss the extra money for our GS trip, but I will make it up some other way.

So you want to hear some funny gift wrapping stories?

We have wrapped a lot of jewelry so I am not sure if this was the most expensive, but a guy brought in an original Star Wars movie poster from the 70's. He had gotten it framed for his son and said it was valued at $1,500. I laid out the paper and made him flip that thing over to wrap the other side.

Once this guy came in with a glass drink dispenser that you would use at a party (in its box), sat it down, and then said, "don't turn it over - it already has lemonade in it." I guess he was going to a party and this was his combo gift?

Some dude came in with bird bath to be wrapped and then asked us to leave it with security overnight. He was sending in someone to pick it up the next day. Okay. So when the lady came in and asked for her gift, it took awhile to figure out what she was talking about - then our leader said Oh you want the bird bath. The lady said, well I didn't know what my gift was, but I guess that is it. Ooops.

Then there was the lady who wanted me to sign her gift tags as Santa because her kids would recognize her handwriting. Then she fussed that I only had a black pen to use (Santa would use green or red). So I am going along, but almost lost it when she mentioned that said "kids" were 26 years old. I think they know....

I love wrapping! Although this year I've sort of wrapped as I purchased (or as they were delivered) since last year I saved it all & wrapped everything at once- I could barely walk after sitting bent over on the hard wood floor for hours! I'll never do that again!

Hang on Anne - hoverboards like Back to the Future?! They are real now? ! #mindBlown

Hilarious! TFS!

I dislike wrapping & it shows. :)

My daughter has requested bows this year, and she is one of 3 people on this earth who could ask me that and get away with it.

Sounds like such a super fun Christmas, Anne! I know the kids are going to be thrilled!!
I always like wrapping at first, but then it becomes more like "Gahhhhh, how many more do I have to do" and then I start throwing stuff in gift bags :giggle I wrap almost exclusively in craft paper and then add big fancy bows to all of it. I just love the look. But have only gotten in to wrapping more since I don't have little ones at home anymore.

What a wonderful Christmas you have planned, Anne. I know the boys will be beyond thrilled. I used to enjoy wrapping, but can't stand it anymore. Guess what I helped my daughter do? Yep, wrap gifts. Hahaha
