Wrap It Up | Pad Patter 12.21.23

Not having presents wrapped by December 21 is procrastinating? I suggest that as a future Pad Patter question. I think I've only had presents wrapped before December 25 about twice in the last two decades. :lol2

I use wrapping paper 90% of the time.
I try to be neat, but I don't really like wrapping gifts. I have the skills because my Mom worked in the gift wrap department at Mervyn's department store in the 1980's and she taught me. However, I have only a tiny bit of gumption to do it well. I often skip the ribbon and bows.
I do use tissue paper -- just a couple of pieces -- on the rare occasions I use a gift bag.
The only huge gift wrapped up I can think of is a huge box my Mom wrapped one year when I was a teenager. It was for my sister, I think, and I think it was a combination of gifts. I can't remember what exactly.
The biggest gift I've ever wrapped is a computer for my son several years ago.

Do you wrap gifts in wrapping paper, use gift bags, or something else? I generally use gift bags (I hate wrapping!), but for the past few Christmases I've been using wrapping paper. This year I found an unopened 4-pack of wrapping paper that I bought at Costco last year -- beautiful designs (like scrapbooking paper), and good, thick paper.

If you use wrapping paper, do you fold everything nice and neat? No! I don't have the patience.

If you use gift bags, do you stuff them with tissue paper? Yes, always. I love the look of tissue paper sticking out of the bag.

What’s the biggest gift you’ve ever seen wrapped in wrapping paper? I can't think of anything (but I'm impressed by the examples in this thread!)

I generally use gift bags as I hate wrapping or I donate to a charity at the shopping mall to wrap the gifts I buy.

I used to be GREAT at wrapping presents... now? not so good... it's sad too - because I think if the outside is pretty, you are more anxious to open the gift!
I use a mix of commercial paper and bags with tissue... I usually try for a theme each year. This year it was red and white. This being said I usually have to purchase new paper every year... LOL
I also like funky papers - this was from a few years back the mate (which is all gone) was a crab in a Santa hat and it said Sandy Claws. I like to see if anyone really pays attention to the wrap. Usually they don't... :(

I love that funky paper! So fun! That’s too bad no one notices the wrap. My kids notice because they each get a certain paper instead of name tags.

Do you wrap gifts in wrapping paper, use gift bags, or something else? Both
If you use wrapping paper, do you fold everything nice and neat? I'll admit that it's mostly my hubby who wraps. It kills my back to do this simple task! He is very neat.
If you use gift bags, do you stuff them with tissue paper? Always have to have tissue paper inside to cushion the gift, We can't have tissue paper sticking out of the bag, though, because our cat Holly Belle will eat it and it makes for a messy gift!
What’s the biggest gift you’ve ever seen wrapped in wrapping paper? Hmmm, I think it was my ex-stepmom's dad who wrapped a huge block of ice and inside the ice was a lot of cash for her mom. We have a huge blue velvet bag that we've used a few times for oversize gifts, and there was a point when my sister and my current step-mom were trading this huge green shopping bag that looked like a trash bag to wrap big presents in.
Yay for your hubby doing the wrapping! Mine wants our kids to have a lot of presents to open but he doesn’t do the wrapping so he doesn’t know what a big pain it is to wrap so many presents!

Good thinking to add tissue paper for cushioning in gift bags. I can only imagine the mess Holly Belle makes if it comes out of the bag!

Do you wrap gifts in wrapping paper, use gift bags, or something else? Both - I reuse gift bags all the time!
If you use wrapping paper, do you fold everything nice and neat? No! I'm the worst at wrapping gifts.
If you use gift bags, do you stuff them with tissue paper? If I have it. LOL.
What’s the biggest gift you’ve ever seen wrapped in wrapping paper? Hmm, nothing too large. Probably a big box that held a large RC airplane.

FYI - I hate wrapping gifts. It's probably one of my least favorite things to do. I usually divide my kids up and have them help me. This year we knocked all of the wrapping out yesterday with hubby's help.
I love to reuse bags too!

Good job getting the wrapping done yesterday. I still have more to do tomorrow. Ugh.

I’m glad I’m not alone in my late December gift wrapping!

I’m with you and skip the ribbons and bows.

I definitely prefer gift bags for birthday presents but I don’t use them for Christmas because I don’t want anyone peeking.

Yay for finding paper from last year to use! I stocked up this year because I hate when I run out.

Donating to a charity to wrap sounds like a win-win to me! Good thinking.

Oh, I also use folded tissue paper in my gift boxes, so you unwrap the gift, open the box, open the tissue paper to reveal the item. Every year I think about skipping the tissue paper, but I don't like the look of a gift in a "naked" box. :)

I prefer wrapping paper, but default to a bag for some things. Up until this year, I have always done a kraft paper and then use big full colorful bows, but time got the best of me this year and I used some printed kraft paper.

If you use wrapping paper, do you fold everything nice and neat?
I'm pretty particular when it comes to wrapping. I try to be super neat lol

If you use gift bags, do you stuff them with tissue paper?
Always, at least one to cover the gift and a couple of fluffy ones.

What’s the biggest gift you’ve ever seen wrapped in wrapping paper?
Oh geez, I don't know, but I have one this year that is not getting wrapped lol...just a bow. It's a loft bed for my grandson and it's about 7ft long and weighs well over 100lbs.

Oh yes that’s another great use for tissue paper.

Good decision to not wrap the loft bed lol I think a big bow is perfect for big gifts!
