Where are you shopping for clothes these days?

Like lots of people, I didn't do much shopping during 2020 and 2021 and the little shopping I did do was usually because I was lured into a "get an additional 60% off sale prices" kind of online sales. Before the pandemic, Loft was one of my favorite places to shop so I stopped in a real store the other day literally for the first time in, like 2 years. They weren't exactly "cheap" back in 2019 but I was pretty shocked by the pricing now. Most casual tops (other than tshirts) were $65. Inflation is a b$*&#, I guess, and higher wages are important, but I can't wrap my mind around that kind of pricing. :lol

I have dabbled in Amazon shopping but I hate to give them more of my business than I already do! And of course there is the Costco "I can't pass up this deal on pjs" shopping. I am also debating a capsule wardrobe and just go simpler.

So, anyhooooooo, where are you shopping for clothes these days?
 
I shop consignment stores, amazon, Winners, The Bay and Reitmans. For jammies I go to La Vie En Rose when they have sales. I'm not trendy, I just buy what I like, what feels comfy.
 
Well, since I live in jeans, sweatshirts, sweatpants, capris, shorts and t-shirts, I shop wherever I can find something that I want. I have grown to dislike shopping in stores so I will turn to online shopping. Blair is one place as is Amazon. otherwise, it is Wal-Mart for the casual stuff.

I do have my preferred brand of jeans so wherever I can find them is where I buy them when I need them. I found some sweatpants I liked in 2020 at Wal-Mart but since they change out brands so often, I can't find them anymore. Many years ago I found lightweight capris that I could wear for work. Wal-Mart no longer carries the brand. Makes me sad because I would like a couple of new pair. I did find sweatpants on Amazon that I like.

When I worked I wore a specific style of shirt that I could buy from my employer. We were a uniform rental company and also had a direct sales component. I still have those shirts and will wear them from time to time when a t-shirt or sweatshirt is too casual. I very rarely have the need to dress up but I have a few dresses that I can pull out if needed.

I will say though that my clothing budget isn't big because I just don't buy clothes very often!
 
I haven't bought anything new in probably a year and those items came from Target -- a pair of button up off white jeans, a pair of summer pull on pants, and some workout leggings with pockets.

I used to like Loft when I was working, and usually would end up with a couple of items from Chico's.

I don't have need of much at this point, I still haven't even unpacked all of my clothes from moving about a year ago. But with cooler temps, I'll get to that soon and maybe it will be like shopping.

I chase around my 2-year old grandson 3.5 days a week, so comfort and things that don't mind sticky fingers are key!

LOFT has also been my go-to for years because I can wear to work and was cute for home stuff too... I looked a couple of times in 2021 and didn't like what I saw. Different fabrics than the easy to launder typical LOFT shirts... I need easy and I hate to iron. I was turned off and left without a purchase twice. In Sept I was looking for something to wear to a work photo shoot for our website at work and was desperate to find a blouse that was jewel tones to fit the theme assigned. I went in after looking in our whole mall without any luck and they HAD something that just arrived (I even had looked online to see if LOFT had anything but they didn't, so I was expected a no). I noticed they did have some of their normal fabrics and styles that I used to like. I too noticed the pants are higher at 79 or 89 and blouses 59 or 69 which was steeper than pre-pandemic. I did buy the blouse and then I went back online looking there vs ignoring the emails since I was down to wearing the same clothes for the last 3 yrs and frankly they are getting worn and tired. I had not really found a go to and felt just like you.
Online I saw they had a "Melissa's picks" which was new, intrigued I clicked the link and I saw she does a try on of the new clothes - it made me very interested in a few items, and was a great way to see things together that I maybe wouldn't think of. The sale at the time was 50% so it was quite do-able. I am very happy with what I got. During 2020 and 2021 and even spring 2022 I'm not sure if it was supply chain, a different design team, or still working through the items designed and manufactured during the worst of it all, or what, but it seems like it's finally better again!!! Watch for sales and give it a try - if LOFT was your go-to I don't think you'll be disappointed. I just got a few items at normal prices by the time the sale was applied. And realistically, for that photo shoot looking I looked everywhere in our mall and literally all the stores seemed higher - dept stores, chains and boutiques.
 
The last clothes I bought were sweats from Costco. I also like half sleeve shirts from Downeast but they’re pricey.

oh my gosh, this is so true And it seemed all their shirts had some sort of fluttery sleeve which does not look good on me. I was glad to see some new styles when I was in there recently.
 
We live in a small town, but have a locally owned department store that I buy from, plus a big western style store, plus several boutiques. The boutiques are very well-priced and affordable, so we frequent them. I also buy from Amazon - they have a lot of items that are "Try Before You Buy", which I love.
 
Like you @dawnmarch, I buy lots of pjs at Costco. I get my slacks from Eddie Bauer. The Guide Pro slacks are perfect for travel since they have lots of pockets. If I need something a little nicer, I shop at J. Jill or Soft Surroundings.

Like many of you, I haven’t bought many clothes in the last couple of years. I live in old (soft) fleece.
 
I bought some new clothes before I went to my youngest sister's wedding in April, and I went to one of our local malls and shopped at Dillard's, a department store. Everything was priced as high as a giraffe's butt, but I was able to find a few things that were on clearance and a few things on sale.

Honestly, most of my clothes come from Vanessa's Boutique. Vanessa is my niece and she is always buying new clothes and cleaning out her closet. We are about the same size. I get to go through all the clothing she's getting rid of. I have so many people ask where I got a shirt or pants or capris, and I just say Vanessa's Boutique. Of course, when I was routinely thrifting, we called the Waterfront Mission thrift store "that quaint little boutique on the waterfront." LOL

If I am going to buy clothes, I prefer to buy second hand so will check out the numerous thrift stores in my area.

Check out Melissa's videos... she's got a cleaner style - non fluttery for sure.
 
There are a few basics (leggings, socks and underwater mainly) that I buy at a local big box retailer. Like @gonewiththewind 95% of my clothes come from the thrift store….I have zero issue with that because I get better quality clothes & shoes for prices I can afford.
 
I didn't buy many clothes, I don't need them. I have plenty! Underwear from Amazon (hanes-I am not fancy!) I get alot of my clothes from the Navy exchange here. It is a very small selection, but the prices are good and the sales are great! It is also a great place to get toddler clothes. I am finding some really good prices.

Our goodwill store is very expensive, but if go to the thrift store in the good areas of town, you can find some good buys.

If I would go thrifting at the thrift store in town, I'd probably end up buying something that I had donated... so I tend to stay away from there!

I have favorite sweatshirts that are over 30 years old. One has the sleeve ribbing starting to tear apart. But it is so comfy that I still wear it but only at home. A couple of my favorite t-shirts are also 30 years old. I'm not "hard" on clothes so they tend to stay in nice condition so if they are comfy, I keep them.
 
Kohl's with a coupon of 30% off usually or walmart. I really haven't bought anything for a long time except a misc top etc
 
I am in USA. Kohls is one of my favorites. For athletic wear, Walmart. Although super cheep, yoga pants and sweat pants etc have lasted me years when I buy from Walmart. But other stores....I'm lucky if they hold up for one year.
