Our transmission went out completely in our mini van (under complete warranty!)

and the dealer gave us loaner!!! A silver 2016 Dodge Charger! For a month!
It is so fast and fun! I have to use cruise control to keep from speeding out of control!

So what are you using for transportation?

We are currently driving a 2014 or 2015 Nissan Altima (I feel like I should definitely know that year, but it has already been a looooong day and isn't even lunch time yet...).

We also have a 1999 Acura TL that my husband and I got a few months after getting married. We have had it for 13 years and it has over 300,000 miles on it. It's currently just hanging out in the driveway because something keeps killing the battery in it and we're at the point of not wanting to invest more money in it.

The good thing is my husband only works 5 miles from home, so we are very good sharing a vehicle. We actually have for much of our married life because we hate having car payments and I tend to be a homebody, so it works pretty well for us.

I drive a 2016 Ford Explorer. I love my car. After driving a Jeep Rubicon (4 door kind) for 8 years I'm loving my "mommy mobile." Now the Jeep is Matt's toy and he uses it to go Jeeping more. That was limited to him when it was my daily vehicle. LOL!

He drives a2004 Chevy Silverado. It's getting old and is starting to break down but he basically uses it to get to work and back. He commutes and his drive is about an hour long so he can't drive the Jeep. The Jeep gets like 11 MPG...so yeah.

I drive a 2008 Ford Explorer. Husband has a 2011 Ford Explorer. At one time we had 4 different Explorers parked in the driveway - one for each of us! I guess you can say that we like our Explorers.

Right now I drive a 2011 Infinity QX56 which we lovingly refer to as “The Beast.” The thing is huge but needed for our family of 7. I like to trade vehicles way to much though. Usually after about 2 years I am itching to trade.

We had the same van you posted a picture of. Same color too but we were constantly having trouble with it. It’s the only car that we’ve been broke down in twice on the road. It was surprising too because I had the old Chrysler Pacifica (before they changed it to a van) and that was the best driving car I have ever owned. I was actually wanting the new Pacifica when we bought the Infinity but my husband loved the power and the sitting high up of the Infinity so it won out but I still kinda drool when I see a Pacifica go by on the road.

GMC Acadia... I think it's from 2010? Maybe 2012? His name is Quentin. I drive that everyday, and it tends to be our family car when we travel or go out and about. It's got more miles, about 105K or so. DH has a Ford Edge from around 2008 or so, with like 80K miles on it. That thing will last forever. Both are paid for... DH keeps "shopping" but my car will die first, lol! :giggle

I want to go back to the Jeep Grand Cherokee or check out the Ford Explorer next.

My primary vehicle is a 2008 Honda Odyssey. We got it new when we totaled our previous vehicle. A major factor in choosing it was the high crash test safety rating after that scary accident. I like driving the bigger/higher vehicle because I feel like I can see more. It comes in handy for hauling bigger stuff too.

DH got a sportier used 2013 Honda Civic a couple of years ago after he totaled his older Civic. (A much more minor accident, but it was old enough that it didn't take much to declare it totaled.)

DH's mom decided to give us her car last year when she moved into a retirement community after some health issues. It's a 2010 Toyota Camry in an odd gray-green color. It's not one we would have chosen, especially since the visibility out of the back window is terrible, but you can't beat a free car! It's the kids' car. DS drives it to school and work (and everywhere else) and DD is learning to drive with it, but will not likely be the primary driver of it in the foreseeable future.

I drive a 2016 Cadillac SRX, my husband drives a 2002 GMC Envoy, and for when we're all together as a family, we have a 2011 Chrysler Town & Country.

I have a 2015 GMC Terrain and I LOVE it!! This is the longest I've ever kept a car, that's how much I love it. Just this year, 2018, they made some very minor design changes, but other than that, my SUV still looks new. I highly recommend the Terrains!

Right now I have a 2006 Ford Explorer...only the exhaust needs to be fixed and I'm waiting for funds to magically appear in my bank account to get it fixed! It sounds like I'm driving a race car!

I have a 2016 Chevy Spark. But I miss my 2001 Chevy Blazer so much sometimes!

The Spark is a great little car for running around town. But I have had many times in the last 2 years that I have been transporting stuff for donation (or taking to the dumpster my cousin had for a week) and it is not a good vehicle for that.

I had contemplated keeping the Blazer when I got the Spark but didn't think I could afford it. Little did I know that just a few days after I sold it, my father passed away and I could have kept it because of the inheritance.

I have the IronVan - she is tan with a maroon door (think Iron Man colors), 2005 Toyota Sienna. Hubby has his parent's old car, a 1995 Buick LaSabre. DS has what we used to call in Michigan a "beater" - which is a 2002 Buick Century (also known as a "grandma" car). We drive our vehicles until they die...

I sort of named the van Betsy, but when I wore out the side door from opening/closing it so much, the only replacement door they could find was maroon. We didn't bother painting it. The front bumper has been messed up twice by DS learning to drive. She looks nice instead though... She has 265,000 miles on her and has no major problems yet.

Beater - what you drive in the winter so that 1) your nice car doesn't get salt on it from the roads and then rust, and 2) if you slide into something, you won't care.
Grandma car - think little old lady sedan

I have already started "shopping" for my replacement car. I am thinking a Toyota Highlander, but it will probably be a few years. Hubby wants an Elio if they ever build them.

I have a 7 seater, which was great years ago when I was driving 3 kids plus friends around. Now 11 years later DD and I share it. Still love it though. Toyota Corolla Verso.

2013 Honda Odyssey. I had an Impala that I liked, but my hubby is just too tall for it to be comfortable and safe driving it with 2 kids. Since we are a one vehicle (+hubby's work truck) family, we had to have something that we could drive more than an hour in without stopping to stretch his legs. He's 6'8"- the struggle is real. So mini van it is!

Hubby's work truck- it is an obnoxious beast that lives in my driveway, but it does not cost us anything except a small "private use" tax at the end of the year. It pulls our camper too :)

@BevG - I drove a 88 Buick LeSabre in college. That think was a Grandma Car AND a beater all in one. The gas line finally rusted through on it, or it would probably still be going. I saw one similar to it on the road a while back and did a double take!

I have a Chevy Equinox and while really love it, I think it's time to upgrade (downgrade??? lol) to a van or a third-row vehicle (like a Traverse, which is just my SUV but with 3 rows). I love the Equinox's gas mileage, which is pretty good for a SUV, and it's big enough for me without being HUGE and tough for the kids to climb into lol. DH has a 4-door sedan, which is great for his commute, but doesn't help us if we want to carpool the kids and their friends anywhere (or even just drive somewhere with both grandparents in the car with us when they visit). My vehicle will be paid off in like half a year-ish, so I'm sure we'll look into something around then.

But what would I love to drive? A SIX DOOR extended cab pickup truck like these. That'd fit the amount of people I want plus I get my truck bed.

And Anne, while I'm sorry you're having car trouble, I had to say I felt like you were reading my mind cuz just this morning I was talking to a friend about cars. She doesn't like her new Mercedes (too small) so she's been driving her DH's truck (too big). We laughed cuz both of us are having "Goldilocks car problems."
