Do ya use them??

I have an incredibly hard time figuring out titles of pages. I tend to lean on the word art from the kits I buy. I see some amazing title work and titles and I am in awe...

How do you do it? Are you a Title person or a Title wanna be?

I'm probably 50/50 title/no title. Of the times I do use a title, it's about half-and-half word art from the kit vs my own creation. For my own, I'll most often get inspiration for a title when I'm journaling. Sometimes I only add a title because I feel like the composition of the page needs one, and other times I try to come up with one because there's a great alpha I really want to use. I used to love making really intricate titles with multiple alphas and embellishments weaving around and through.. Now I just do whatever feels "right" - there's no rhyme or reason..

some faves...

@Pachimac

I'm all about titles and like to have one on every layout. Most of the time I use word art or something from the kit, but sometimes I make up my own title with an alpha or use a style and a font.

Here's a list of 10 ways to terrific titles that I did a few years ago for a slow scrap.

Thank you - I will check those out!! It's always been my Achilles heel in scrapping!

Depends on the layout. Some need a title, others don't. I do a lot of multiple page layouts so every page does not need a title. Usually put one on the first page and that's it.

I might use word art. I might use an alpha. I might use an extra large font with a paper clipped to it. And I must just use a couple lines of journaling (place and date mostly). I have at least one of each of these in my gallery.

I do actually use the extra large fonts with papers quite a bit especially if I'm not fond of the alpha that came with the kit but love a certain paper.

I think titles are important. I don't journal much, but I love titles. My dd sends me "title this" Instagram posts and i whip them out like crazy. She said, the other day, "You're so good at titles" - I told her I'm a scrapbooker. LOL

I don't care about titles at all. Journaling is important to me, but not titles. Sometimes the idea of a title feels quite wrong for my page, in fact.

Sometimes I'll title them.. depends on my mood I guess...I don't use alphas as .much as I should..use more word arts

I struggle with titles especially if a template has a placeholder for a title, I feel compelled to provide one. There are times I just feel I am restating the obvious with my title. Sometimes I just use journal cards for my title. If I'm making my own title, I'll often use a Mommyish style on a font. I'm especially fond of her September 2018 BYOC Styles.

Titles are a struggle for me, too! I usually depend on word art! I love being challenged to make them, but I'm never totally satisfied with them. Lots of great info here!

If I'm feeling a title and it comes to me pretty easily, I use one. But if I don't use one it's not a big deal to me :) Sometimes if I'm stuck and really want/need a title I will usually use a word art or something similar from the kit(s) I'm using.

Wordart is my savior! I LOVE having titles on my pages because I don't always have journaling, but I need it in wordart most of the time because I'm just not creative enough to come up with a title from scratch. Most of the time, lol!

Love your tips @keepscrappin !!

I do like some sort of title on my page, but that could look like using an alpha, word art, word strips, or a style on a font. Word art is probably my favorite way to make a title.

I almost always have a title on traditional pages. Not always with art journaling.

I lean heavily on word art or pre-made titles in my scrapbooking. I usually have multiple options of word art or pre-made titles that I can choose from when saving my layout and uploading online.

Like this layout about my son visiting his first Lego store. Any of the pieces I added would have worked but "Taking It All In" really described the photos and what I remember feeling that day when I was with him.

When I do create my own titles, they usually come from somewhere in my journaling, like this layout I made about a phrase I say all the time.

On this one, the title didn't come from my journaling, but from the shaker box I made on the layout. It was a heart filled with fun little things and mini photos, so it was kind of a play on words that "she fills our hearts with love."

I love my own templates for having titles be a part of the page's composition.

Another layout where the title is part of a cascade of embellishments and word strips/word art.

I made this title from a mix of alphas because of the t-shirt my great-niece is wearing.

This final layout was the result of an alpha challenge during MOC 2018.

Yeah, I almost always have a title on my page and it almost always is the same as whatever I name the file. Unless the title is really long and then I abbreviate the file name (with the date included). I get very excited if a kit has a word art to match what I want for the title, but if not, I just make my own. I like to do a mix of an alpha and a font or a mix of two alphas to spruce up the title a bit.

Honestly I really struggle with titles if it doesn’t come from word art which is a crying shame because I love alphas but by the time I get to deciding on a title I find my creativity has dried up so default to word art 99% of the time.

I can take or leave titles. For me, it's the 'book' part of scrapbooking. I don't need every page to have a title. If it's a long story, then yes, it usually has a title. Like a TLDR (too long, didn't read)! Sometimes my title is something that didn't make it to the journaling, or is a Who, what, when, where, part of the story.

Like this one, the title is the 'what'. I used his speech as the journaling, so there isn't an explanation of what this is.

This one, the title is the artist. Another 5 W answer:

No title on a facing page:

A very blunt title (Also word art from the kit). Mostly because without it, you would have no idea this was a field trip unless you read the journaling.

Double layout, no title on either page. Some might consider the word art a title, I don't.

I do like to play with titles sometimes and make them creative. This example is me being silly and making fun of my bad selfie skills.

Boys could be considered a title here, but it's not what I named the layout (love statue). So my title does not always reflect the file name on my computer:

And, two more examples of no title.

I title when I feel like it, and don't the rest of the time. If a title doesn't jump out at me, I don't worry about having one.

I could go either way, it just depends on the layout. It's not an absolute "must" for me, and then I have a few layouts where the title a prominent feature.
