That one darn word

At one point, I was dealing with some litigation at work. However I was mistyping,"hearsay", autocorrect kept turning it into "heresy." It would have been a lot more fun had I been dealing with a case about witchcraft instead of bribery of public officials.

yes to a lot of words already stated here. I love auto correct..... As long as you are paying attention and realize what they 'corrected' it to.

I have a hard time in texts/facebook not correcting words used not in the correct way. There/Their To/Too .....

Definitely. And since I like to spell it defiantly, I totally change the meaning! And spell check won't catch it....

"restaurant" is a word that always trips me up. I can never remember where the "U" goes. Lol!

It's funny, as I read these, I am thinking about some of my mental tricks for hard to spell words. In my head, I always pronounce "rest-o-rant" in French in my head. The "au" making the "o" sound makes sense. That trick does not work all the time. Some words that are similar, but not quite the same in both languages, I end up blending together "government" + "gouvernement" becomes "governement". #Franglais

I mix up possible and positive - I always have to pause and think which one has 1 S and which has 2.

I find journaling easily becomes journLAING. And I have added that to my dictionary at some point and so Google Chrome doesn't add that red squiggly line anymore. Asymmetrical and (colour) pallete I have no idea what is the English version and what is the American version of those spellings. apparently in South Africa now, both British and American spellings are accepted.

^^ This is and always has been the word I cannot spell confidently. Souvenir is another. It just doesn't look right to me.

For me, it has to be "congratulations". I always want to spell it congradulations. And my stupid reasoning? Because graduation (which sounds very similar) is spelled with a d, so why not congratulations??? OR---there are times I have spelled graduation as gratuation Those two always confuse me!! I always tell mysef, there is a "RAT" in congratulate. There is no "RAT" id graduate.
