Now I have a lot of stuff from the designers that recently left (27ish GB and 14-15GB respectively) and use both a heap in my challenge layouts previously. How is everyone navigating this change specifically for monthly challenges? I’ll still keep everything and use it for other layouts but my primary source of scrapping is monthly challenges here so I’m a tad worried overall.

Well with Pink Reptile Designs I will just move her folder over to my Sweet Shoppe Designs folder. LBW will do similarly if she moves to a store I have a folder for, if not, will move into an "Other Stores" folder.

It works with how I scrap, which is 100% for the TLP challenges. I will search on the TLP folder first to find a primary kit/kits then if I'm missing something in particular, I widen the search to include other stores.

That way, the bulk of product on a page will be from TLP, but a low percentage may be from elsewhere and ensures I meet the % TLP requirement.

I don't do any tagging or other organisation though other than using the Windows file explorer and search function within my digital scrapbooking folders.

Digikits>store name>designer name>kit name

I've just removed my current Lilypad designer and MOC tags from PRD and LBW kits.
For challenges I search my TLP stash first, then add from my non TLP stash. You can have upto 25% non-TLP in the normal monthly challenges. Upto 50% in the Art Journaling ones. Upto 50% in anything else you post in the gallery, so if you were doing FDD or SWL designer challenges you could use upto 50% of your non lilypad stash if posting in the gallery here.

When I first started to play here I didn't have very many lilypad kits, and was still discovering new designers for me. I used to manage fine with my 10 lilypad kits mixed with up to 25% of my non lilypad stash.
After 4 1/2 years I now have a lot of lilypad stuff. I know you do too, and I'm sure you could complete many pages with those other kits you have. I know you have a huge amount of Just Jamie's and a reasonable number of Soco's kits. You will do fine Jennifer.

Since I don't tag, I'll do the same as Suzanne. Moved PRD to SSD folder and will see where LBW goes and move hers.

I'm in denial about their departures and haven't done anything yet. I'm especially distraught about LBW leaving because I swear her kits dominate my TLP folder, there's probably something of hers on at least 90% of my pages, and her style is so perfect for me. So this is all I'm doing so far: :hissy:cry

Eventually I'll probably drag the many many many folders out of my TLP folder and put them into their own folders a level up, "digiscrap stash." I guess that means I'll finally relocate the Etc By Danyale & LBW Karma collabs I was keeping in my TLP folder too.

The only good thing about all this .... my TLP folder will take less time to scroll through when I'm picking stuff. I'd rather have full use of my favorite designers' kits. I'm not leaving TLP.

Oh! I have started coping in one way: I'm trying to figure out which other designers here have a similar artsy flair as LBW. Some are close. For example, I used Lynn Grieveson's Artfully Seasons paper pack last night (an old favorite) for the February template challenge. Someone please tell Lynn I want more stuff like that. :D

Don’t worry @michelepixels I’m in denial too.

@Angela Toucan I can probably use Jaimee & Allison for PRD but I haven’t quite figured out LBW yet. I guess I forgot that 25% can be outside TLP especially after a month of MOC scrapping. My struggle is I tend to use PRD & LBW as my initial “go to” designers so it’s going to take a bit to change. Prior to PRD & LBW leaving my top designers I used constantly were them plus Jaimee & Allison

Although not all are as active these designer stores may help - Amy Wolff, Lynne-Marie, Micheline Lincoln, NBK, Rebecca McMeen, Tangie Baxter, Rachel Jefferies as well as Lynn Grieveson. Also check out any collabs with Studio Basic (SSD) in other designer stores such as Mommyish and Just Jaimee (use advanced search for studio basic, exact phrase) as there are a few sprinkled in other designers stores as well.

I followed Mirjam here after having been on her own store CT, when that closed. I have a huge folder of her products and found that I used bits from them on many pages. I'm really sad that she has left here. Designed by Soco, Sara Gleason, Mommyish and Sahlin Studio are options in a similar style I think.

This is the beauty of having folders for designers. When FDD, SWL, BG and KA all came here from Scrap Orchard, I just moved their folders. I also have a folder for Retired Designers that I will move their folder to when they retire (Etc Danyale resides there) since I still use their kits in my personal scrapping.

Then if I do scrap a challenge when I look in the TLP folder, I know that everything is good especially since I rename retired kits so they sort at the bottom of the folder.

I feel for you guys going through this. Went through it myself with a designer going to 3 stores in a 2 year period about 10 years ago. That's when I knew storing kits in designer folders was a good idea!

I am in a bit of denial myself. :cry

I was just sorting stuff in my massive downloads folder yesterday for all the stuff I used for MOC, so I finally had to decided what to do with PRD and LBW stuff. I decided to keep their goodies in my BYOC folders because I can mix and match some of their stuff in still. Then I still haven't decided what to do with my giant PRD folder. I don't want to just move it all to my SSD folder yet because not everything of hers will make the journey to her new store, so for now, I'm just going to add something like "moved to SSD" at the back of her folder.

Move it to the SSD folder. That way all your PRD stuff will be together. Also, I'm guessing that you could probably use things that didn't make the move with no problems if you read the guidelines.

I get so sad when I look through the list of retired designers in my folder, and even sadder remembering those who died :(

File Naming Example.PNG

Because designers move around (and stores close), I organize by designer. I have "1_" in front of all The Pad's designer folders since those are the ones I use the most, and this prevents me from having to scroll through a VERY long list of designers (see example).

Within the designer folder, I have each kit organized by a standardized naming system, depending upon what it is (styles, brushes, paper packs, kits, etc.).
  • In the example above, I know that since I called it a "bundle," it contains journaling cards.
  • No AP means there isn't an alphabet set.
  • The "TLP" means I bought it at The Pad. If I bought it from Sweet Shoppe, it would say "SSD;" Oscraps would be "OS," etc.
  • I then put the name of the kit, a brief description, the designer's name, and then the date I bought the kit.
As far as challenges/MOC go, I always look up the product in the store before I use it since I always copy the link for my gallery credits anyway. I have too much stuff to tag items if they are retired. It's easier for me this way.

Move everything to the SSD folder as they allow you to use anything by current designers even if it is not in the store.

I don't tag, I just have designer folders so I can easily grab from my favs no matter which store they sell at.

@michelepixels - rachel jefferies' and lynn grieveson's designs are similar to LBW's, so you can shop the SOSN and FF sales to pick up some favorites. Both have products in today's SOSN sale. Also, the M3s have LBW stuff that you can still use here at TLP. All is not lost, you just have to get creative. :agree

Tell her yourself! :whistle
@LynnG Michele loves your Artfully Seasons paper pack if you were looking for ideas. :-):heartlub

Thanks :) I forgot her username and I only had a couple minutes before heading to work.

I shopped already and got them!

I finally moved my massive collection of PRD and LBW products out of my TLP folder and scrolled through tidying and seeing what I have and found I have exactly one M3 set -- from exactly one year ago. I'll look into them more.

I did this same thing last night. I temporarily have a "Current TLP" folder. I didn't remove their prodct from the M3's or collabs. Those will stay here, right?
I have a LOT in my "retired" folder that I LOVE. I am starting to see this increase, :( I loved LBW's painterly style, and while Rachel is in the same genre, hers is a bit too "rustic" for me?? LynneMarie can create like LBW and Lynn Grieveson has begun dipping her toe in the water. Hope they both jump in to the deep!!!

I'm like a lot of the others...I have designer folders and just move them if/when they move.
