When does school start for you, your family, or your grandkids or God children, etc?

Utah lets the school districts set the start and end date, just requiring 180 days. So, start dates are all over! One neighbor started last week (private school), munchkin's school started today, and my siblings {40 min away} start next Monday.

Most of our universities don't start until later, the week before Labor Day, or the Tuesday after.

How about your family/friends?

Kennedy starts first grade the day after Labor Day. My nephew is in another district and he starts on the 30th. So random.

we start on the 22nd. my boys aren't happy about it lol they've been getting back into their school year bedtime routines and are very unimpressed! the school district that we live in, but don't attend, starts on the 29th. about 20 minutes away, schools don't start until after their rodeo lol they start on September 19th.

My daughter started her freshman year of high school yesterday with an all day freshman orientation... regular classes start today. My son will start his junior year of high school on the Tuesday after Labor Day (three weeks after his sister). The joys of having one in Catholic HS and the other in a Chicago Public School.

Daniel started middle school on Monday, and Olivia returns to college Friday (moves into her apartment with her roommates) and then starts classes on Monday the 22nd.

The schools here where we live started last week, on the 12th. I teach in another county (another state, actually lol) and I go back on Monday the 22nd and we get kids on the 29th. My youngest goes to school in the county where I teach, it just makes it easier with times, holidays, etc. He's starting 6th grade.

School districts here are all over the place! I don't have kids but I teach piano lessons to kids and I don't try having a regular schedule until the end of the month when everybody's finally back to school. Every district and private school that I have students at starts at a different time. The earliest was Aug 3 and the latest is Aug 29. My graduating student doesn't start college until late September.

we never stopped...my poor abused children have done math and language arts all summer! The horrors of a homeschool family! bhwhahahhah....and our Science and History arrives today...and we will touch and smell and play with the books and start on them come MOnday!
Haha I remember those days! Year round school, especially if we took extra days off during the year.

Crossing fingers mine starts Aug 29. Wow, there aren't any other school schedules to keep track of this year.

Our district starts school on a Wednesday this year, so that means we have one more week to sleep in and be lazy. Then it's off to school for the girls and I'll get the house and tv to myself all day... YAY!

Most schools here (Pittsburgh, PA) start either the last week in August or after Labor Day. My daughter is a teacher in a district about an hour north of here and she starts next Wednesday, and her students start the following Tuesday.

The boys & I all start school next week on Thursday, August 25th. It's going to be a busy day & we still all need haircuts.

My son (2nd year) started back to college classes today. My daughter (10th grade) starts her Spanish 2 class next Tuesday and 3 other classes on next Friday. But we won't start math and US History until after Labor Day as she is babysitting full time for a neighbor until then. I love homeschooling - you can ease into school.

Darren started his third year of medical school on...get this...June 20th. His last day of M2 was June 8, so we had a REALLY short summer.

My niece started 1st grade on August 1st. She spends a week every summer with me (well, with us, but this year Darren was doing a surgical rotation while she was here and was basically a ghost). I had her the week before she went back to school, and her parents wanted me to make sure she was in bed by 8:30 every night. They didn't say she had to go to sleep then, though, so we stayed up watching I Dream of Jeannie for another hour or so after that every night. :)

Oh wow. That all sounds so confusing!
I like how the Australian school system works. There is a week difference with the start/end dates of terms for some of the different states, eg. Tasmania starts/ends one week after New South Wales.
Our school year starts early-mid-February (8th Feb this year). We have 4 terms of around 10 weeks, with 2 weeks break in between and then a big holiday time around 8 weeks at Christmas, so we get most of the Summer off too.
Note- We have extra days at the beginning and/or end of the terms to make up the proper amount of days in the year, lol.

Ottawa, Ontario: The English school boards start back the day after labour day until the day before Canada Day (July 1). However, the French school boards start a week early and end the day before St-Jean Baptiste (June 24), the Quebec national holiday. Summer is great, but I think we're all ready to get back at it. Kinda wish we'd go to the year-round school model.

pretty much the same in New Zealand. University/college is different again. it's split into two 12 (14 or 15 if exams are involved) week semesters - late Feb/early March through to early June with a 2 week study break in April & mid July through to Oct/Nov. There can also be a condensed six week summer semester in Jan/early Feb but not all classes or courses are offered then.
