Prayers and good thoughts please

What a terrible thing to happen to you and not just once but twice! That must have so been so scary. Sending healing thoughts your way.

If you can believe it, had another incident this afternoon. I was resting and thought I was hearing noises that I shouldn't and the house was swaying more than normal for a good 10-15 mins (I live in a pole house that has settled over 20+ years - normally only notice movement when a heavy goods/freight train goes past or during extreme wind & stormy weather). I immediately rang my mum who works 5-10 mins away and she came home to investigate further and ease any nerves that were slowly being torn to shreds not knowing what exactly I'd heard. While I was waiting it seemed to worsen and probably lasted a good 30-45 mins all up. She came down our driveway and found a guy "looking for his lost dog" while standing on our back porch, he was obviously very surprised to see her and asked if she lived here, she said you obviously don't....your trespassing and get off the property now. He jumped over our stair handrail and disappeared after that.

I'm sorry Jennifer - I can imagine that is really unnerving! You need a guard dog or something! How are you feeling today?

I’m so sorry Jennifer! I’m glad he left quickly at least.

Feeling fine today as family have their day off. Unfortunately a dog isn't a viable option at all for us but we are looking cameras and signage potentially.

How scary!

Cameras could do the trick yes. At least you can know from your room or a safe place what is going on right away and call if needed.

So scary! I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I'm alone most of the time and I get a little nervous when I see a vehicle come down our long driveway...usually its Amazon or UPS. I know that uneasy feeling. Hopefully, today has been uneventful for you. Cameras should make a difference for you. I know I feel a lot better having them. We also have two dogs who bark at everything. It's not always a good thing because if I don't see what they are barking at I get a little paranoid sometimes.

I wish my intuition wasn't right about what happened this afternoon but unfortunately it was....all ok now. I was home alone & felt the house shake more than normal so yelled out get out in case someone was intruding again and everything went silent so I left it. Mum came home a few hours later and said someone had been under our house so I told her what I'd heard then she discovered our ranch slider had been opened from the outside (it was locked) so that answers the question of what I heard.

I wish I could live not in fear of what could happen here or have to change my plans because of fear (I'm already not going out tomorrow because I'm afraid of what will happen in the few hours I'm out) & what ifs running through my head

OMG!....OMG!...This is so shocking! and beyond belief!...I am just reading this now...How scary? and terrifying!!!...I can't imagine this happening to anyone...twice!...When I first had to live alone after Ray passed away, this was one of my biggest fears living alone for the first time in almost 30 years!!!...in a now...not so great! neighborhood!...where I did not feel safe...It just added to my anxiety...I couldn't wait to move out of there to a secure building, where I live now...Gosh!...I hope you and your Mom are gonna be OK...Sending you hugs and positivity!..Take Care of each other...:grouphug

I’m so sorry Jennifer. I hope you’re able to find some peace and comfort.

Really scary, Jennifer. I know that there are security bars that you can add to sliding doors to further secure them. I guess I might look into some additional security measures for windows and doors although I know they can be a pain to use.

That's horrible Jennifer. I hope you can get some extra security for your windows. No-one should feel unsafe in their own home.

Unsettling indeed! What an ordeal! Crime is on the rise even in our small town. Just last week we had our car stolen from our driveway while we were sleeping. It was an old car, so not insured both ways... so a total loss. That was enough to make me want to move further out in the country, and there was no face-to-face contact with the criminal, let alone weapons! I don't know what I would have done in your situation, but I would certainly be very upset and insecure! Like Christa said, keep a baseball bat close by.

My thoughts are with you and your family what a thing to go through. I'm so sorry thus happened
