Photog Photoshop Promo - thru Dec 2nd

OK gals that are on CC...after nearly 9 months I want to hear what you all think???!!! I had to get a new hard drive and I lost my CS6...and I am seriously contemplating doing the $9.99/month deal for PS and LR. I hate extra monthly payments. Ugh...I work so hard to keep debt to a minimum and a lump sum for a program seems easier than a monthly charge, after all, those monthly charges start to add up. Anyway - I installed my Photoshop Elements 10, and have been working on a LO in it and after working for so long in Photoshop 6 I cannot stand the elements version. :( So, all that to say...how do you all like the Cloud - convince me it is worth it!!!

So worth it. Worth it to me! :giggle
DH does not always feel the same way.

I was totally against moving to the CC format vs the stand alone version, but I have to say I am pretty happy with it and knowing I'll always have a current/updated version.

I've been using it since December and haven't really thought much about it, to be honest. The only issue I've had was the most recent update put out a completely new version of CC instead of just the update, so now I have CC and CC 2014 on my computer and need to manually remove the old one.

UGH, I had this. Some of my stash was opening in CC and some in CC 2014, on a Mac Book Pro, I removed CC and now it all works like it should. When I first opened CC 2014 it let me migrate my custom workspace and my brushes/styles palettes thankfully! :D

I'd love to know what you all love about it too... and dislike about it. I'm not sure I want to have that extra monthly payment. We are almost debt free besides our mortgage and cars, so less monthly payments is better. :)

Jenn,
I wasn't happy about the monthly payment... AT ALL. Using PSE was not an option for me (personal preference) and I had CS5. I decided to take the leap after talking to DH about the change that Adobe made to Creative Cloud. He doesn't stay current on this stuff as he is not artsy/craftsy in any form or fashion. :giggle We discussed that the $10 package includes two previously stand alone Adobe products and that it is an investment not only in my hobby but in my ability to preserve our memories. Compared to the $$ that I used to spend on paper scrapping products, :dizzy it really is a bargain.
CC really is no different than regular Photoshop. There are some features that have changed, but I just open up the program like normal and do my thing. One feature that I like is the Auto Save. I have had my computer freeze and have had to force shutdown. Once I restart and open Photoshop, the layout I was working on pops right up.

CC 2014 added the one thing I really missed switching from Pixelmator, with the auto-alignment/measurement guides. So now I'm totally happy with the Cloud. No complaints. I love Lightroom and I love Photoshop.

we have CC and i love it. it tells me when there are updates on the software i use. we have the big package that includes Acrobat, Illustrator, PS etc etc ... we have the student id pricing and i think it was $19.99 a month (for everything!!!) and then after a year it only went up $10 ... so we pay $29.99 a month. so, yes, it does goes up after a year, but it shouldn't be too much.

I’ve always been able to align things easily in Photoshop, even before I moved to CC.

If you get the photography program (or whatever it’s called) it’s $9.99 and I’m pretty sure I read that they weren’t planning on going up on it.

Before the 2014 update, it did not automatically show visual guides as you moved something, how it aligned to other layers on the canvas. Yes, you could tell it to align things, but the auto guides were not there.

They said the 9.99 was not a temporary price, meaning it's not only good for some set amount of time. They did not promise it would never change, but there is no set time limit on the current price.

well that's good news ... enjoy!!! it's a steal!

I'm happy with the cloud since upgrading at the beginning of the year from CS5. I've had no problems with either PS or LR and easily loaded it into my laptop and pc.

I plan to add CC to my laptop before our trip at the end of the week. I am not sure how much playing I'll be able to do while away, but I do have good intentions. :)

Good to know I can install it on two computers! I assume I just log on to CC on my other PC and download it from that as well?! I am on the 30 day trial with it right now and I do love it! I have never used Lightroom, so that is kind of fun for me - although I have a TON to learn in there right now! Can I use my Rad actions and Pioneer Woman actions in there - I assume I can, but I've only ever used them in PS!

I'm tempted to do this. I just had to replace my computer, so I am without PSE.

Is full photoshop more difficult to use than PSE? I'm worried that I'll do this and be in over my head.

There's MUCH more to full PS than PSE. I think if you have a handle on PSE, you'll be able to figure out PS pretty easily. I mean, there's a learning curve, of course... but you'll probably be able to get the basics of it if you're familiar with PSE.

(all that said... I haven't used PSE in years, so I'm probably not the best person to answer that question.) :giggle
