Do you sew? Make any projects? Or can't even sew on a button?

I'm slowly trying to get more into it. I have made a couple small lap quilts, and made some simple skirts for my daughter when she was smaller. Once our basement is remodeled I am planning on spending a lot of time in my craft room, so I'm getting excited about all the projects I can do!

What have you done?

I suck at sewing. I can do a button or a hole in a stuffed animal - but that is the extent of it. Anything else, I send to my MIL.

I sometimes sew on cards. :giggle That's all I bought my sewing machine for! :)

Gosh I used to be a HUGE sewer/sewist!! Like before I started working more than 20 hours a week LOL. Now with work and digiscrapping, I just don't have the time, and I haven't sewn in months (unless you count sewing badges on the kids awana vests). I mostly make clothes, but I've done purses and rag quilts and several random projects like play food for my kiddos too. Here are some pics. Sigh....this makes me want to pull out the sewing machines again!

Most pics were all taken with my old crappy camera, so they kinda stink LOL:

Some random clothes:

I've made tons of undies, my kids love the soft waistbands:

I am so impressed with those, Kelley. You do a great job. I wish I could sew like that. Did you take classes? Self taught? How long have you been sewing?

I can sew a little. Mostly things for my kids like tents or pillows and blankets for their stuffed animals. Things that no one will really see LOL. I did recently try my hand at burp clothes and bibs. I wanted to make my own when I found out I was pregnant again so toward the end of my pregnancy I ordered a bunch of Heather Bailey fabric and made my own. I love how they turned out. I did a few bibs but then Caroline arrived and I haven't been able to find time to make more but I really want to because I would like to have some nice, pretty ones for when she starts teething to help with all the drool :)

Kelley, the clothes you make are awesome. I really wish I had a little more experience behind the machine.

I can sew things with straight lines...I used to work in theatre in a props department so I made curtains, pillows, and even a mattress at one point. Oh and I upholstered a couch once for the stage..but the only reason I was able to do that is that the couch was supposed to look old and saggy so it didn't matter that I didn't have a clue what I was doing.

I've never sewed clothing. DH has sewed about half of DD's Halloween costumes. I have a quilt that I need to make, have the fabric and was sent some birthday money last month from my SIL to buy the quilting tools, but I think that I'm afraid that once I buy the tools, I have no excuse left not to quilt, and I have to admit I'm a little scared I'll mess it up (oh if there were only a ctrl-z in real life).

Thank you!! I am self taught. AFter I had my first daughter, I just had a really strong desire to learn. I learned by trial and error. Later, I found sewingmamas forum where I learned everything else. That place is awesome. It really motivated me to get better!

Wow! The clothes are just beautiful, Kelley! I made a couple of dresses for my daughter many moons ago and some blankets when my son was a baby. I was taking quilt classes with a friend about that time, did that for about two years. Then she invited me to a CM party... I discovered I didn't have enough room for both paper scrapbook stuff AND all my quilt stuff so I had to pick one. Scrapbooking won!

Wow Kelley, those outfits are awesome. I sew a little but not much, basic stuff. I really need to get myself a new sewing machine, but between working full time, being a single parent, other hobbies etc I just can't find the time at this point in life.

OMG Kelley, your clothes are terrific! Funny, Stacia-- sewing and scrapbooking are still battling in my house. I just picked up sewing again after taking classes back in middle school. The patterns out there now are terrific and very diverse. It's super fun to sew for my daughter and I've made over 30 outfits so far, plus bibs and hats. Here are a few:

Liana and Kelley, I am so impressed with both of you!
and I second Angie, I think I am going to need that dress for me too!

I can 'kind of' sew. I wish that I had a sewing machine, I usually just borrow my MIL's if I need one. I did quilting several years ago (before children and digiscrapping) and would love to pick that up again. I am not so ambitious to make clothing for myself or my kids, but I do like having a machine around for the occasional household project.

wow kelly those are amazing!

i can sew - messy and all over paper and layers of other things is the best!

I go thru spurts but I love sewing. I've made a lot of quilts & skirts/dresses for my girls, books bags, diaper bag... probably the most complicated thing I made was a lined jacket for my oldest but so far all my girls have worn it so it was worth the time and $$. I find you can buy things for way less than make them but I love buying fabric :)
Here's my latest quilt and matching pillow:
