What be you?

My parents were both adopted, so I mostly don't know. I do know that my mother's biological father was 100% irish complete with red hair and green eyes (which one of my kids inherited... although his hair is only red in the right light, he's not a full on redhead). Other than that, it's a mystery!

I'm German (my grandfather), Greek (my great grandfather), & English (pretty much everyone else)...with a spattering of Welsh and Irish thrown in there.

We're actually going to do a genealogy unit in our homeschool studies coming up soon so I think it'll be fun to explore all of this with DD. I'm really lucky that I have quite a few mid 19th century heritage photos from both my family and my husband's family. I think it'll be fun to figure out a way to incorporate them into our projects.

Parlez Vous Francais?

Funny that today's question is this subject since my brother just sent me a document that has our grandfather and his ancestry all the way back to 1605. I do know that my paternal grandmother's niece on someone's side did take my dad's side of the family back to Ireland so I guess I'd be some parts of Irish, French, Indian, mutt, pig and good ol' American. :)

My great-grandmother came over from ireland in the 1920s- my great grandfather was a scot, but his route wasn't direct. Scotland, to nova scotia (where a lot of Scottish folk immigrated to), to america- but that's all I know about him, he abandoned my GGma and my grandfather pretty much straight away and we've never been allowed to ask about him. My grandmothers family brought the french canadian to me.. and my dad is 100% polish but in discussing with my mother recently we realized we really don't know when his family came over. It's not very far back-- some cousins of ours here came from poland directly but we don't know about my dads direct line. It'd be cool to know more about my heritage.. I know a LOT about my irish heritage.. but the rest is really fuzzy.

I'm a mix of a bunch of stuff, don't know the percents, but I know my dad was half Irish.

I really wish I knew more about this, but I guess since my parents didn't know, I don't. I should really research it, mostly because I'd love for my kids to know.

I SO VERY MUCH want to have that DNA test done where they tell you exactly. But I just can't justify spending that money, since I don't really NEED to know, I'm just curious. lol

I'm all mixed up too.

German and Irish on Dad's side. Cherokee (not that you can tell by my fantastically fair skin) on Mom's side. I would say I take after my Dad's side the most.

Let's see.....I'm Filipino...BUT:

my maternal great grandmother was Portuguese
my maternal great grandfather was Chinese

my paternal great grandmother was Spanish
my maternal great grandfather was Filipino

mixed up much? LOL :p

My mother's parents were English and Scottish on one side, English and Irish on another, and Ciminole on my dad's side.

My dad was born in Cuba. My mom's family is mostly Irish, with a good bit of Italian and also some German, Scottish and other stuff. Basically, I'm an American mutt.

Full on mutt! I have some Irish, Polish, Dutch, English and I believe French in me. I'd really like to trace my family history at some point...

Let's see...
both sides of my paternal grandmother's side comes from Russia (her mom and dad were both born to immigrants) this is the side I favor most in looks. dad's father's family is primarily English with I believe one Irish person and one Native American.

my mother's family comes from England and Scotland with one Italian thrown in - my great-great grandmother on my mom's dad's side.

I've been lucky enough to have one person on each side way into that kinda stuff so I know my family's make up really well.

Oh and let me see if I remember this part correctly....
Paternal grandmother's family came to America in the 1920s, paternal grandfather's family in the 1890s. Maternal grandmother's side 19teens, maternal grandfather's side sometime before the Revolution, but stayed in areas of similar nationalities.

Mostly German on both sides. There is a small amount of six or seven other European nationalities going back on my mom's side, but I don't know the details.

My mom is 100% German, she was the first one in her lineage to marry a non-German (and most of her brothers and sisters followed suit). My dad's side is mostly Swedish but there was a dash of some other nationalities in there - mainly English and French, I think.

Fun thread!

My mom's family heritage is German and Welsh. My dad's is Scottish and Polish.
