Finish this sentence: I wish I knew how to...

I wish I knew how to SEW. I love the idea. Love the projects. I even have an old sewing machine that's a hand-me-down from my mom. I even have a Pinterest board for when I learn how to sew. The only time I've ever used it was at a retreat when Dalis MADE me. :giggle I am slightly scared of it. LOL Maybe, someday?

LOL believe it or not at one point in time my answer would have been that I wanted to learn to weld. Back in my theatre days I was a properties manager and I would have to turn over all metal fabrication projects to the scene shop...I felt like I wasn't able to do my complete job.

I'd love to learn to crochet...I've tried multiple times but it's just never clicked. I've had so many people tell me that's it's so much easier than knitting but for some reason I have trouble with it.

I would love to know how to sew.... I would also love to know how to quilt.

There are so many things I'd love to learn how to do... so many. I'd love a great cooking class plus one for knives and chopping, lol! I'd love to take a surfing class... and found a surf camp to sign my kids up for a week or two summer, so that's exciting. I'd love to learn how to paddle board, too!

So many things... so little time. :)

I would like to learn how to make stained glass patterns- but I already have SO much crafty supplies and don't need to start a new collection of supplies. I would also like to learn how to paint walls better- I stink at edging and drip the paint. I see people who have DIY blogs post their "quick easy painted room" pictures and wonder why it takes me forever and looks so bad!

Sewing used to be taught in high school when I was a girl. I'm so thankful I learned and had a sewing mom who taught me the ropes. It has sure come in handy over the years. I taught both my girls. It is becoming a dying art. HOWEVER, went to a huge "hipsters" craft fair recently and all the sewn items were selling for huge amounts, so it's not totally dead. Check out Sewing With Nancy on public television and You tube you could learn a lot through tutorials.

Rock climbing!!!! It's specially hard when you are afraid of heights.

Ladies - may I say that sewing is easy peasy? Seriously. I used to teach quilting through a local adult ed program, and some of my students didn't know how to even open up a sewing machine case before they started taking my class. And they became extremely prolific quilters!

Quilting is a great way to learn because for the most part ... ready for this? ... you only sew STRAIGHT LINES. ha! And who cares if the corners don't match up? You just say you wanted it that way. I would always tell my students if someone pointed out something that was "wrong" with their quilt, just ask that person to see the quilt they had made. Stops that type of comment nice and fast!

I've done the gamut of sewing - my own clothing (including my wedding gown), my kid's baptism gowns, coats, quilts, curtains, bedding, dolls ... the list goes on. Now? I'm designing and making my DD's figure skating costumes ( <- saving myself big $$ there!). Here's the one I made for the Holiday show last year:

find the patience to sew
sing better
let go of shame
stop procrastinating
play the flute or violin
speak fluent Italian
not be a worrywart
draw something that doesn't look cartoon-ish
