Do you make resolutions? I do - but I try to make them reachable. :ballonhang

Whats on your list? I need some inspiration for 2017

I've done the one word for the year thing with a related goal or two. Seems more manageable and since it's for a year, if I slip up I can always get back on track.

this caught my eye last night

I love that @Cath_ !

I try to make 1 resolution only in each of my main hats that I wear - family, personal, professional, Me.
I know Personal and Me mean the same thing, but for me, Personal is something that I need to do and Me is something I want to do. Professional right now is usually scrapping related, and Family - I set one for DH and one for my kid.

I do like the idea of having a fresh start at the beginning of a new year, but I tend to make changes all year long. I've never been successful with NY resolutions, so I prefer to extend myself some grace and allow myself to continually improve during the year.

My main focus most years is learning to be kind, to myself and others ~ the love your neighbor as yourself thing. :) It's a work in progress.

I love the fresh start that January brings! I usually do have NY resolutions, but I try to keep them very general (such as living a healthier lifestyle v. exercise more or lose weight). That way, I can decide what specific goals to incorporate throughout the year. The One Word project is one of my favorites too - and a great way to focus on one general goal throughout the year.

I have tried the One Word and for 2016 was FOCUS which I incorporated into a lot of ways in my life. I still need to FOCUS on the improving my health/weight so I will continue to work with that word in 2017.

I do believe that 2017 is going to be about LOVE -- loving me as I am (even though plan on continuing my weight loss) but I want to love myself no matter what size. Love family even when they aggravate you.

I also do Ali's OLW. 2017 will be 'actuate.' I have someone make me a piece of jewelry on Etsy with my word so I can wear it and keep it in mind. I also change my Facebook cover page to feature my OLW so that I see it multiple times a day.

Starting with my birthday at the end of January, I'm also going to do New52 where you do one new thing a week (see how actuate works nicely alongside this?!) for the year. Since I'm turning 37 which is my favorite/lucky number + choosing 'actuate' as my OLW I thought it would be a fun project.

This is me! I tend to make changes all year round...I tend to be convicted of things throughout the year, & I try to implement change as needed.

My one & only goal is that I must scrap a double page of our family happenings so that we have a family album at the end of the year. So far I've done it since 2012....so I don't know if I can really say it's a resolution since I've been able to keep it up that long.

I'm a simple person. There is always something that I need or want to improve, so I try pick something each year. I stumble and fall, but for the most part, I commit and it becomes a part of my life. There were a number of years (college/youngish adult) that I didn't really do anything. If I do choose, it really is a commitment.

One year (when I was just a new driver and seat belt laws were not a thing)... was to wear my seat belt every time. It is now habit. Another was to have at least 8 glasses of water a day, again, now a habit. Another was to incorporate more veggies and fruit into my diet... working on, but since that year, improved greatly. It goes along this way for years.

Resolutions aren't black and white for me... there are gray areas, and I think I look at my improvement, not pass/fail.

I've decided on a 2017 motto: Do things that scare me.
A resolution I made: write every week.
And of course I want to get back into shape and a more healthy lifestyle. However, at this time and place in life, I'm not ready to say I'm gonna fully commit. (there is just so much stuff and stress, I'm not ready. I know the difference from when I was two years ago, if I'm gonna make this a resolution, I know I'm gonna fail and that's not gonna help. I hope I will get there sometime this year though.)

Mine are typcially financial goals instead of resolutions.

I also always try to be more patient but that's a personality thing. LOL

I found that I'd make resolutions and never follow through so I stopped and now my goals are just that. I set short term and when I reach it, I stretch it further :)

I LOVE this idea. I think I might have to do this... and then get my kids to join in, and then we can do it as a family! LOVE! Thank you for the idea!

I really love the OLW style of resolution and I've found, in the past, that it really does become the mantra for my year and has led to some real "results" in my life. I haven't yet decided on my OLW for 2017. Still thinking!

I've also been thinking about and trying to convince myself to tackle an AIP (Auto Immune Paleo) food plan starting in January. My allergies just keep getting worse and worse, so I am hoping to do this as an immune system reset.

I usually make the same ones year after year...get in shape, eat better, blah blah blah. I never really follow through which is why I rarely say it out loud...more just goals in my head LOL

I usually don't do new year's resolutions because I kind of hate doing what everyone else is doing. :giggle It's the contradictory personality in me. Lol. But, I usually do something similar at the start of the school year. That's when I try to re-invigorate my fitness and eating habits because at the start of the school year I switch my working hours back to 6:30am-3:00pm so I have a better chance at fitting in exercise after I get the kids from school and I have more time to make healthy meals.

So yeah, like @Celeste said, it's always lose weight and get more exercise.

Ugh. I'm sorry! And good luck if you do! I've watched a few bloggers do those, and man, they seem really rough!

A goal not written is only a wish....Just saying :agree
