Nooooo! This can't happen during MOC! Say it isn't so! :circles:cry:cornfused

Over the last week or so I've had random rebooting. I just assumed it was Windows doing stupid updates, until a few days ago when it happened twice while I was making dinner and then the next day it happened while I was scrapping. I got the blue screen of death. Thankfully I was sitting here, so I got a picture of it with my iPhone and there was a QR code I could scan.

It didn't really give me too much help other than saying it could be hardware failing or maybe software... gee thanks. Lol! So I ordered a new HD and that arrives today. I'm going to have hubby install that and then reinstall my OS from scratch and hopefully that'll fix it all. Wish me luck!

Until he gets home from ice fishing tomorrow morning I'm backing up the weird things that I usually forget... like fonts and my PS styles. What else should I back up? I have all my files on an EHD so I'm not worried about losing anything really important.

Oh Karen, computer troubles are so stressful. My mag charger died yesterday so I'm going to be behind in my scrapping so I'm spending my time taking lots of photos until Amazon Prime comes through. Good luck.

Computer problems are no fun anytime, but especially during MOC! I hope the new HD and reinstall fix your problems.

I'd say to make sure you have backups of your browser bookmarks too. I know I had some for digi tutorials that I lost on my old computer.

NO! But at least you have a new HD on the way!
Your post reminded me to back up fonts. I'm the worst with that. *blush* I used to be really good, but I keep forgetting to make a "FONTS" folder in my "to back up" DS folder. And what about any documents on your HD, like any recipes or something?

This is making me think - Do you guys not install your fonts in the "fonts" folder on your PC? If you don't how do you get the files in your PS (I used CC)?

oh dear, your computer has been overworked during MOC clearly... i save random things in the documents folder and forget to back them up while i routinely back up pics and downloads...

Well... my new HD arrived this morning and my computer keep rebooting so rather than waste my day losing work in Photoshop, I decided to try installing the new HD and reinstalling windows. Ugh. Let me just say I miss my hubby. He always handles this stuff. I had all kinds of trouble, but I finally got windows 7 installed. I had upgraded to 10, but I don't know how to do that again since I did it as the free upgrade and I don't have a disk for that. Anyway, I still have issues since Windows doesn't restart correctly. I'm searching on how to fix that problem now. Right now I'm just tired of messing with it, but I would like to be productive and actually scrap tomorrow, so I don't want to give up yet, but I don't want to install Photoshop and all my other software if I'm going to have to start all over again. Blurgh! I will prevail! :crazy3

I do install my fonts in the fonts folder, but when I start a new computer I like to just make a copy of all those fonts so I know which ones i had installed. I can then just copy them all back in there once I'm set up and ready to go. :)

Thank God for Amazon Prime! That's where I bought my new HD from. I ordered it before bed on Thursday and it arrived this morning. :)

my photo shop just had box after box of error codes of a place here or there in memory, and everything on dexktop changed, and i hadn't saved layout

Yay. Glad you got the new HD and you got it set up! You are smarter than me :) I got my new HD on Monday and it wasn't until Thurs night that I realized the monitor was plugged into the wrong slot and that's why it wouldn't work LOL. I am now in the midst of reinstalling and organizing. My biggest chore will be to sort and organize photos off my EHD's and get a copy of them onto my HD into folders and sort them in a more orderly fashion than I had previously.

It's a lot of work to start over but isn't it fun?

Nope! I do not.
I have maybe 10 fonts that are installed besides system/program fonts. I keep all my fonts in a folder (That is also duplicated on my EHD). I use Nexus font. It accesses them just like they are installed, but I don't have to waste the space, etc. It's not as big a deal on the desktop, but it slows down my laptop in any program with fonts.

OK, Nexus font looks AH-mazing! It's downloaded, and I am now in the process of uninstalling the 10,600 fonts that I have installed (yes, you read that right). Is there any easy way to know what came with my system before I font-hoarded the heck out of my computer?? @bestcee

@mrs2a50 what scrapping system do you use? I need to understand if Adobe Photoshop CC will work with Nexus.
