Thanks to real life interfering over the past few years I haven't scrapped much or taken any photos. Due to outside issues (I'm no longer studying at the moment & my mum has a new job) I'm now on my own a lot so photo taking doesn't really happen much any more. I started PL for 2013 & 2014 but didn't complete them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my mojo back?

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for reaching out. To me, you've just done the first step-- looking for your lost mojo and acknowledging why you lost it in the first place. You want it back and that's good! The only real advice I have for you is to perhaps avoid huge goals that might overwhelm you. Start with one or two manageable goals. I'm just getting my mojo back after a few setbacks myself. My little current goal is going to be to try out the kits from the new designers who are coming on board this week. Maybe try a few of the challenges that are starting up on Jan 1st-- there are some good new techniques and inspiration in there. Maybe your goal is to look for new material for your photos-- something you don't usually photograph. It looks from your gallery like you enjoy the pocket templates which is great because those are fairly straightforward and easy to fill. You don't even need photos! Stay in touch and post the layouts you finish so we can bestow some gallery love on you. (posting your layouts just got a lot easier with the site update!)
You can do it! I'm excited to see your first layout. :)

A plan! Permission to yourself to let go of any guilt.
Why do you scrap? What, in 2016, are you looking forward to scrapping? what story(ies) do you have that need to be told? Maybe a heritage story, or a trip you haven't scrapped yet...

Thinking about these things might give you some sort of picture in your head what you'd like your next thing to look like, and in turn, help with a plan. Otherwise, I find looking through the galleries to be helpful :)

For me scrapping is my only real hobby but thanks to school it got pushed further and further down the list of things to do because of time. Now while I'm not working or studying I'd like to get back in to it

I agree with both Liana, and Kristina... no guilt, for fun, and smaller goals. What about to try a page a week? Photoless, or other friend's photos, lists, challenges, feelings, thoughts, favorites, so many ways to scrap a page... but find one that works for you. Small steps lead to bigger steps! What about even starting small - FB timeline, siggy, etc?

Challenges, and the gallery really give me my biggest source for inspiration. Good Luck, Jennifer! Hoping you will share a new page soon!

Maybe scrap a page that's actually about losing your mojo would help? I did that once a few years ago & darned if it didn't work!

I agree with everything that everyone has said, they are all great ideas. I love photoless layouts sometimes and the challenges are a great source of inspiration for me. If you are struggling with what to take photos of, maybe try a photo-a-day list to give you some ideas. Kimberlee has one up for December here: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/photo-a-day-december-2015.39491/. I don't always follow it to the day, but it does give me some ideas and inspiration.

All great suggestions! I say grab that camera of yours and take some pics of your study and work day/routine and scrap that. It may just be the release you need. Best of luck Jennifer! :-)

Thanks for the suggestion, two months ago it would have been a great suggestion as I was still studying then. I'm finished my degree and may not be restarting til the end of February now (still waiting to find out) and I don't work either.

My life at the moment revolves around Facebook, forums, shopping and sleeping :P

I'm going to predict that MOC could be just what the Dr. ordered! In the meantime, don't be so hard on yourself.

I'm hoping so. I guess overall I miss being super active with my scrapping and being on CT's like I was in 2007-10 more than anything.

It's great that you now have the time and desire to get back into it. I always love it when people photograph and scrap a series of some sort, as a twist on PL type pages. Instead of events from their life, maybe a photo a day of something bizarre or random (or maybe "typically kiwi" LOL) which could turn into a daily challenge to find something! Or a photo a day of a favourite or meaningful place. Or how about an album about your childhood if you have enough childhood pics? :-)

Ooh!! Lightbulb moment!! Google images is amazing. Pull up pictures of your hometown or even google earth maps of where you lived. Then go to town with journaling!!! Look up on Pinterest or Google Images toys and fashion from when you were younger. Have fun with it!!!

How about doing one of the photo challenges? It might give you some motivation & ideas to get out there & start taking photos. Kimberlee is doing fun things with monthly photo-a-day ideas in the photography forum.

Actually, that's part of how I got into pocket scrapbooking & digital scrapbooking. I came here through Pinterest in the spring of 2013, started the challenges in July + I took a phone photography course at Big Picture Classes. I had so much fun interacting with everyone on instagram, and from there a bunch of participants moved on to another photo-a-day challenge. It encouraged me to look at the world a bit differently with my camera, and I got a lot of great photos!

You should try it!
