Hey All! I just got back from a LONG cross country trip and wanted to get this up for you - even though it is a bit late. And I apologize, I totally missed last month - things went a little haywire here and I was stressed to the max to the point that it slipped my mind entirely. My apologies!! This month I wanted to do something a little different. - I spent the last few weeks in Texas visiting my family and stumbled across a treasure trove in the form of my Grandmother's old photo albums. There were SO MANY pictures in there, and some of them were just fascinating. I had my mother and my grandfather tell me some of the stories, but there were a few that even they did not know. I've been watching an artist that I admire put together an art journal using old photos she has found at second hand stores and it inspired me to play a bit. So this month, I am going to give you three photos that I found. These actually DO have stories, and I know who most of the people are, but I am not going to tell you that information just yet. I would like for you to have a play with at least one of them. You can create a story that goes with it, Match it with an experience of your own, or just have fun being artistic - whatever strikes your fancy. The ZIP file is HERE And you can find the individual files for those of you who don't do zips HERE I can't wait to see what you do!!
I just downloaded mine. How much fun is this going to be????? Glad to have you back Erin and don't worry for a second about being "late" or anything else. We all have lives to lead. My head hasn't been right for the whole last month and I feel like I've just been blundering along. We also went on vacation (to Oklahoma) and I really can't get out of vacation mode.
Such fun! Again, taking me out of my Comfort Zone (using a printed paper). THANK YOU! https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/07-19_playdate_heritagephoto_roadtrip.400211/
So glad there is a play date this month! I made a traveler's notebook and made up a story about the 3 pics:
This is a "you know" piece - looking at the photo all I could think was you know, that sky needs to be blue. So here I am a short time later. Would have been here sooner but I kept arguing with myself over adding more. I could have easily but everything seemed to overwhelm the blue sky. Which was the whole point to the piece, right? Sometimes (I can't believe I'm saying this) less really is more.

I had fun with this one. I played with all the photos- painting on them, recoloring. My Grandma and her friends are the subjects. She made the striped outfit sewing it by hand- all hand stitches. Can you imagine???!!! Amazing!
