Hello everyone and welcome to day 5 of MOC 12! This is my first year hosting a MOC challenge and I hope you will enjoy this challenge as much as I have enjoyed the ones already presented to you the last couple of days. Today I want you to use torn photos to create a collage of two or more photos that are connected somehow. The subjects on the photos should be the same type of subjects, for example if you use a face on one photo, the other photo(s) should also include faces. I’ll give you a few examples what I mean, on the first example I have made a collage with two different photos of me, taken two years apart. On the second example I have two different kinds of butterflies, both photographed in my backyard and on the third example I have combined my two daughters. Lynn Grieveson Designs created a free torn paper template for MOC 9 in 2021 that could work perfectly for this and it’s still available in the store, you find it here. There are also numerous tutorials on the web how torn photos can be created in Photoshop. For you Affnity users, here is a tutorial @Angela has made on how to use a torn paper template and another one here You must use at least one torn photo, but there can be more, and you need to use a minimum of two different photos. The photo(s) should be torn so the main focus subject of the photo is divided in two or more parts, see my examples. I’d love to read some journaling on the connections between the parts in your layouts, but it is optional. Here is my page Journaling: “I've always thought that Bex and I are the most alike. The same hair color, eye color, glasses and that we both resemble my mom. But when I started playing with photos for this MOC challenge, I realized that Elli and I are also very similar. I always thought she was a copy of Robert because she has so many facial features in common with his niece and sister, Therese and Solveig, but I see now that she has a lot of my features too. Our chin line, cheekbones and nose are very similar and although the upper part of my nose is a bit wider than hers, we both end up with our little tortoise noses. It may sound ridiculous, but I am glad that there is a small recognizable piece of me in both my daughters.” Credits: Unapologetically | Mixed Media Signature Kit and Messy Stamps and Bits by Rachel Jefferies Carefully Curated | This is Me Collage Bits & Bobs by Rachel Jefferies Torn paper template by Lynn Grieveson Design Whimsical Frames No 02 by A Whimsical Adventure Font: Old Newspaper Type Summary: Use at least one torn photo, you can use more. Use a minimum of two different photos. The subject of the photo(s) should be the same kind of subjects. The photo(s) should be torn so the main focus subject of the photo is divided in two or more parts. Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad). I hope you’ll enjoy the challenge, I can’t wait to see your pages! If you have any questions just tag me (@Annsofie), I’m in Europe which means it can take some time for me to answer.
Saving this space for clarifications 1. Q: Do the two photos have to match up or be close to the same? A: That was my intention with the challenge, but I realize it can be hard and I don’t want to restrict anyones creativity, so the answer is no the photos don’t need to match up perfectly as long as it’s the same type of subject and the main subject is divided in two or more parts.
I struggled in finding photos to use for this challenge and nearly gave up. so I hope what I have done is okay.
thank you for this interesting challenge. I would never have thought to do something like this before. Great idea, thank you.
Thank you for a great challenge - it was much harder than I first thought, but I think I'm happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for this challenge. Thank you for the torn paper. https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/day-5-kelly-now-and-then.556688/
This is what I came up with. The torn photo and most of the torn paper pieces were included in Lynn's Finnfara templates. The center vertical torn paper piece was from Paula's Bird&Squirrel elements. Credits with links are in the gallery. While my journaling is pretty much non-existent, the "est 2018" is a reference as to when I began feeding my critters, when I retired.
Thanks for hosting, Ann-Sofie! I had fun with this. It took me a while to find match up photos of myself with that big time span.. not much journaling other than 56 years flying by between the 2 photos.. Hugs!
