Hi Everyone! Happy January and MOC! I'm so thrilled that MOC has come back to TLP and we all get to scrap and hang out! I'm away part of the month, but the cool thing is with MOC, is you can scrap in any order, and at anytime.

One of my favorite challenges is the Recipe Challenge, and I'm lucky enough to host it this year. Let's get our scrap on!

Here are the items that you must include on your page.
1. One plain light background paper - think pale, but any color.
2. Add 2 more patterned papers to the layout - any way you want, any pattern or color.
3. Blend some paint, splatter, or gesso to any of the papers on your layout.
4. Photos - let's add up to 3 photos, they can be framed or not, it's up to you. Minimum 1 photo, Maximum 3 photos.
5. Place 4 pieces of foliage on your layout.
6. Lay at least 5 or more flowers onto your foliage. The flowers must touch foliage in some way.
7. Add up to 3 additional elements - stickers, stitches, postage stamps, etc. Anything goes here.
8. Add one sentence of journaling, one word art, a title and a date.

Can't wait to see what everyone creates! It always amazes me how we can take so many different creative approaches to creating! Always inspiring too!

Here is my layout, below. I used Mommyish's Farmhouse Christmas for my page!

Q: Plain light bg paper might you allow watercolour paper for instance? plain means not patterned but not necessarily solid? Am I reading this right?
A: Plain but watercolored would work. Not a really strong noticable pattern.

Q: We can have MORE than the recipe - we just need to have all the recipe in, right?
A: Your page should include just what is in the recipe.

Question- is using a template ok
A: Yes! As long as it falls into the parameters of the challenge. You can easily delete and add layers to make it work!

Yup, this WAS a challenge alright... I hardly ever make flower clusters and this recipe with its clean and patterned papers call for a traditional style layout, which is so not me, LOL. I either make very clean pages with lots of photos and journaling and very little embellishments or art journal style ones. This took me SO long. And not even recoloring (I kept all the original colors even though I've used 3 different kits, they really turned out great together).
But I made it through today and kept (a bit) of my sanity. See you all tomorrow!

One plain light background paper
2. Add 2 more patterned papers to the layout - right side and under photo
3. Blend some paint, splatter, or gesso to any of the papers on your layout: check
4. Photos - Minimum 1 photo, Maximum 3 photos: check
5. Place 4 pieces of foliage on your layout: check ( realistic and drawn)
6. Lay at least 5 or more flowers onto your foliage. The flowers must touch foliage in some way: check
7. Add up to 3 additional elements - stickers, stitches, postage stamps: fabric pieces (=1 ele), butterfly, bird charm
8. Add one sentence of journaling, one word art, a title and a date: check

Jenn, @jk703 , plain light bg paper might you allow watercolour paper for instance? plain means not patterned but not necessarily solid? Am I reading this right?
I decided against the watercolour paper in the end, went for plain soft lilac. This challenge was fun, Jenn, as it happens, the page took its own decisions, and underwent many changes on the way. :)
1. One plain light background paper - lilac solid
2. Add 2 more patterned papers to the layout - one rectangle above the photos, and one vertical piece on the left of the photos with opacity somewhat reduced
3. Blend some paint, splatter, or gesso - all blended onto the base paper, a couple of painterly splotches in the top corner, and middle-ish
4. Photos - add up to 3 photos. (3 photos: 2 of them very similar of the rainbow cloud)
5. Place 4 pieces of foliage on your layout. - I hope branches are allowed as folliage
6. Lay at least 5 flowers onto your foliage. - 5+ flowers of two different types
7. Add up to 3 additional elements - stickers, stitches, postage stamps, etc. Anything goes here. - I have added a flowering enamel branch, a bird and a bird house
8. Add one sentence of journaling, one word art, a title and a date. - done
