I used Design Option B1. My background paper (lbw_havecourageandbekind_pp8) included the stitches and layers. I duplicated it and clipped it to the triangle shape. I like that it looks like an envelope.
I have a question... I might have done this totally wrong. I filled in only 1/4 of the layout, but I didn't "fill it up." After agonizing over colors and papers, what ended up was really minimalist. Is there a minimum number of elements? I will absolutely change it if you'd like. It looks simple, but minimalist is really hard for me!
Hope this works.... Turned out to be quite a challenge... first choosing a photo that would work, and then choosing a shape... or vice versa... I ended up with over a dozen works in progress... Choosing background paper was simply a matter of finding one that worked... But I just could not figure any elements that would go with this very simple page... I tried flowers and other things, then decided to make the photo smaller and cut pieces of it to fill the hole... played with that concept hours... and in the end like this one better... more graphic, more punch... so it is what it is... my sons...
This was a challenge in ways more than one. The journaling says it all.
I don't ever, but I know others do. Scrap to explore their creativity or as a means to express themselves, rather than to chronicle their lives. In a way, I guess, recording one's feelings IS preserving moments, something akin to keeping an emotional diary. Kind of what I am doing right now. I don't like today's challenge because so much white space makes me cringe: I've got so many photos to scrap and leaving 75% of the page blank feels like a waste. And doing a page and NOT including it in my album... Hmmm... Is it my vanity speaking? The funny part it, turns out this challenge is having a cathartic effect on me as I've just realised I'm doing something I never do - expressing myself through art. And having fun while I'm at it. Definitely something to think about. Perhaps I could even make an album of the pages I never meant to make? I had finished the cluster below before I started on the journaling, so I'm going to leave it as it is. Boy, am I glad I joined the MOC.
