January 3 - Photography Challenge

So many leading lines when you really look around. I chose my deck, all that's missing is my dog who is usually on the deck, but it's wet so she is staying dry inside!

Photo taken January 3, 2023 when the cookie tin is almost empty!

I work at a church so I snapped this photo before we took down the Christmas decorations today.

I drove out to Red Rock Canyon National Park to take some pictures, but when I arrived, my trusty Rebel dSLR was not charged!!!!! So, I had to use my iPhone for photos. They came out better than I hoped.

I hope this works as a leading line / leading lines? I took the big photo through two trees to make a frame that leads the eye into my husband and daughter. Frame = vertical tree, vertical tree, diagonal branch, diagonal slope of lawn that parallels the branch.

The big focal photo and the center photo on the left side were taken today. The other two are from Jan 1 and Jan 2, since the layout is about us walking every day.

If this doesn't count, then I also took a picture of one of the trees from the ground up. That's a very leading line, but less interesting than the people I love on a walk!

I usually dread the photography challenges, but this one fell into place quickly. Thanks for a fun challenge!

It was cold and rainy outside today, so I opted for a warm and comforting shot inside . . .

I have learned a lot about leading lines today! I will be paying more attention to those in my photo compositions from here on out. @dawnmarch Thank you for this interesting challenge!

I decided to take a photo while at the podiatrist today for a post-op checkup. Hopefully this counts. :)

It's a gloomy wet day but I found a willing subject and some window light.

Oh, thank you for this fun challenge! Over the years I have taken taken a number of photos using the leading lines, all without knowing leading lines were a thing... ha ha... Unfortunately, the area where we live in deesn't lend itself to this kind of photography (or perhaps I am not that good at it), and I don't want to leave this challenge till later... so.. Here's my take on the challenge using what's right in front of me. I took the photo by placing my phone's camera next to the right-hand side of the keyboard, similar to what I'd be seeing if I were to lay my head on the the mousepad... I hope I did this right.

Like many others I read this last night and decided to sleep on it.. this morning while looking at what others chose to do, I decided I really did not want to go out in the cold and rain, surely there was something I could use in the house??? there is also one prerequisite for me, My pages have to be something that needs to be scrapped and fills my real goal of scrapping all of my life... So as I turned around from the computer I realized I was looking at the perfect scene right across the room ... This is a cozy little nook, put together a long time ago.. kind of a 2nd work area and perfect for a laptop if someone else wanted to work with me... It is filled with special mementos... and yes, I have scrapped it before, but never listed all the memories stored there.. they are listed in the journaling... as for leading lines, there are plenty.. the most prominent is the glass edge of the computer stand, but there are long lines of bookcases, and lines of things hanging from the curtain rod... I felt like the lines lead in all different directions....

Leading lines are straight lines that occur naturally drawing your eyes throughout the image. This is a corner of my office that is filled with treasures from my life. The stained glass bookcase belonged to my Maternal grandparents, possibly made by him? The ocean photo was a gift from one of my first Internet dates. The Macrame circle frame was a gift at a Newcomer's Christmas gathering. My grandparents Blackwood are in the left photo on top of the Tiffany bookcase, My Mom as a young woman in front of them. There is a basket of “found” items from the sea and a milk pitcher from my childhood home.. On the window sill a carved wooden cat from my cruise to Mexico, with Q97 , and a photo of long-time significant other, Joe. and a larger photo of my 3 kids in Hawaii, many years ago. Hanging in the window is a Mobile bought at Underground Seattle, and a glass vase (aqua) bought at Portland's Saturday Market, for me by my youngest son. On the file cabinet a photo of my husband. On top of the tall bookcase, my oldest son and me on the Wedding Cruise of youngest son. On the glass surface, a photo of my husband in his Air force uniform. sorry, the cat is hidden by the chair...

the indoor lighting wasn't the greatest, but I've been able to take some photos that tell a story. The children thought it strange that I was setting-up the game when we weren't about to play it.
