our wooden blinds & grey sofa in the loungeroom at night make the room darkish (and it helped me decide on a wooden background to scrap it with) and his laptop brightness was up pretty high for this photo - the red glow of the mouse adds a bit of extra colour interest

You can also use the portrait mode on your iPhone with stage light mono. It is easy and dramatic.

Photo taken last night at Buccee's, on the way through Georgia. Name and store badge are extractions from another personal photo I had taken myself. Black Background is the darkness of night. Hopefully this will work.
