I love photos that have the soft foreground and sharp/in focus further back. I've been trying this technique out for years... never really get it 100% but some photos look better than others.
My photo is of a lighthouse in Florida and I really worked with my camera to get the right focus. You should see that the tree in front of the lighthouse is a bit blurry comparatively.
Thank you for the challenge! I thought I already posted this but can't find it here. I could not get any photos to turn out with my DSLR because it was too cold for me to go outside, and all of the ones in the house turned out too dark. This was the best I could get with my cell phone. I hope it is okay. Maybe someday when I have more time to spend on the camera, I can try to learn this technique! https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/moc12-day-24-blur-photo-600.560882/
I really struggled with this using my phone, but I hope you can see that the blanket is blurry towards the bottom of each of the photos, I think more prominently so on the first one.
So, I learned a lot about what won't work. LOL! I really enjoyed this. But next time? I won't use a black dog in front of a light filled window. A bunch ended up looking like silhouettes instead of showing off the focus change. I think the big one turned out the best? The black and white, the dogs are in focus.
It took me some time to get my blurred foreground. I first thought of going outside, but the days are so grey right now. While I was making my grocery list I came up with the chopped onions. Always such a joy...not
Thanks for the challenge! I noticed that this bridge could work for this challenge when I was on a walk Sunday (Jan. 28), and I think it was a lot of fun to make the foreground blurred!
