January 10: Clean and Simple (Style Challenge)

When I got up this morning, I said, "Today I'm making a simple layout." Thanks for helping me keep my goal. My 5 items are 2 mats behind the picture, stitching, and 2 pieces of word art. Then I added 2 words of journaling.

@jenevang What about a Title? I have a word art, but I wanted to add another line of text to it to make a title. Could I do that instead of journaling?

Nevermind... I decided on a different page. ha!

Well I guess it was only a matter of time till this challenge appeared.... Actually my pages are normally pretty simple and I struggle to add embellishments such as flowers and ribbons, etc... but I do use masks in the background and scatters, and paint, etc... anything to fill the void! Keeping to the basic premise of this challenge would make the page stand out like a sore thumb in my album, since it is NOT my style... That said... I know what I am going to use, and it will follow the rules... just not be what is normally expected...

jenevang, Does this pass all the requirements? It's the most simple, plain I've ever done. Let me know if I need to change anything. I've been wanting to do something special with this photo but didn't know what.
I can't say it all in the journalling, so I'll just tell you here! When I got that first beautiful much wanted baby 18 years ago, who grew into a gorgeous 'picture perfect' blonde, blue eyed, incredibly smart little boy with a cheeky grin, I NEVER imagined the teenage years of hell on earth that awaited, his battling debilitating depression, a critically high anxiety disorder, school avoidance, days and weeks of sleeping all day, awake all night, but a dogged determination to complete school to Year 12. Hundreds of doctors and specialists appointments, countless doctors' certificates for missed school days, assessments and exams. And that HAIR!!! (In Australian schools you have to be clean shaven, his awesome school turned a blind eye!) But somehow, through the sheer love of a determined mum and an equally determined son, we, he did it! This photo was taken on his last day of Year 12 in his school uniform, ever! Thank you God, that we made it through!

What a great story! And yes, the page is perfect. It is a special moment and photo for you both. I think you scrapped it well. Thanks for playing along.

my hands actually sweated doing this! hilarious!

HA! It turned out great! Sorry to make you sweat, LOL.

Oh we are kindred spirits! Speaking of dread... THIS is my nemesis! UGH.hmph But I love:heartslub this MOC so I will cooperate.:innocent Rant over, LOL.
OH! I just got an idea!:idea2

Exiting Comfort Zone... :)

Hi @jenevang are you familiar with the papers in October Morning by Allison Pennington? She has some that are named solid, but have some white distressing throughout and on some of the edges; would one of these be okay or is too much like a patterned paper?

I would count those solids as ok. They are distressed but not patterned! Go for it!

You are welcome :)

You can use a title instead of journaling... that'd be fine.

*crossing fingers this background paper passes the test*

HA... I answered above... it's perfect.

You can always do a C&S page for the challenge and then if you want to, add "stuff" to it to print for your album. The whole idea of these challenges is to stretch us as artists (and have fun). Who knows? Maybe you'll love it? And if not, at least you tried!
