Jan. 18: Art Journal (Style Challenge)

I didn't know I would have so much fun!

Just today, I was asked to work two extra days this week (making it a 44 hour work week) teaching one of my least favourite groups but I said yes anyway because I just know in how much problems they would be if I said no. That's what this page is about. Me saying okay out loud while my inside screams no. Always trying to be the nice one, miss perfect. I really need to stop that and stand up for myself.

03NRJ-Nancy-04.jpg Somedays I can't fill the whole page. Here's mine. Some of my favorite art journaling designers are at the lily pad! I can always find something to work with.

Ive been waiting for this! I love being arty!! I make layouts in "odd" sizes like your example misslovescraps, but Ive not shared too many of them here. Im going to have lots of fun with this one!!!

I created an ATC for this Art Journaling challenge:
1. I've got paint, spatters, and gesso in the background; there's also a postage stamp
2. Stitches - loops along bottom
3. Doodles - turquoise lines around photo
4. Elements - leaves
5. Face - photo I took of a raccoon, used watercolor filter on it
6. Title or journaling - "Unmask...."

Journalling drives me nuts!! I am such a visual person..
I don't have a way with words necessarily (for journaling) but when I see a bunch of artsy stuff on the page I don't usually get the feel of what someone was trying to get across either. Unless it's really dark and depressing then that's what I feel but often not something more specific.

If everything in line 1 is required, can you possibly rewrite the list to make it clearer? I know lots of people here love the AJ, and I do appreciate all the styles featured here. But for those of us who think a bit more linearly, having a clearly defined list of things to check off is really helpful. Especially since it's been mentioned that the requirements for each challenge are being enforced more now than in years past.

I actually like that the rules are being enforced, but just want to be sure I am on the same playing field as everyone else.

Maybe a little obscure, cause I got my emotions all over this, but it's supposed to be a conversation between the two face - the one in the postage stamp and the one of the girl (that the title is covering) kinda like having those two little angel/devil voices on your shoulder.

OK, NOW we are cooking up my alley!! I LOVE Art Journaling!!! Makes all those journaling pages worth it just to get to an Art Journaling page!!! SO loving all the layouts I am seeing!!!

I really hope that I did this right. I think I have all the requirements in it.

1. PAINTS, SPLATTERS, GESSO, STAMPS - I used a lot of paints/brushes to make the masks as well as the paint behind the wordart. There are splatters as well. Not sure what Gesso is.
2. STITCHES - These are at the bottom by the tag
3. DOODLES - The hearts are the doodles as well as the main wordart
4. ELEMENTS - The tag and scattered hearts.
5. A FACE from a photo - There are two faces here - Walt and Mickey
6. Title or a Quote or actual journaling that will explain the face on your page - The quote from Walt about how it started with a mouse

Here's mine. Another challenge that's not my usual style, but Liz has fabulous templates. I counted and checked and rechecked and I think I have all the requirements.
