How do YOU scrap?

How long have you been scrapping?
- Since May 2011

Did you paper scrap first?
-Yes. For a year.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
-I have a bff aka ultracoolmama who scrapped tonnes of pages for her kids. And she asked me to give it a shot in 2009 but.. I never had the courage as I was told at a very young age by my mum that my fingers are short therefore.. I will not be good in anything that deals with my right brain.. And I didn't know how to even use photoshop..But last year, I was going through tough time... and I wasn't working so I took the courage to explore.. I collect all the freebies I could find and scrapped.. Post it on a gallery which had very few viewers (hahahah).. I didn't even know I had to give credits to designers and I didn't know how to link the products. There was a store who had CT call, I took another leap and got the courage to apply.. The store owner gave me the opportunity to site CT for her. The store is CLOSED NOW... and I am quite homeless..

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
- I am a self taught scrapper . Financially I'm tight so I couldn't afford to attend classes. I bought CS3 and it took me a week to learn the basics.

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
- I started being part of designer CT when I got selected as a site CT .. coz I had to post my pages at DST and designer's invited me !! Oh!! I also found out that at DST , there is a thread where designers have their CT calls.

How often do you scrap?
- minimum of 4 times a week
How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
- LOL!! A LOT!! Digital scrapping has become an outlet where I can express myself , practise my creativity.. My life style is highly stressful, therefore this is the only thing I do to release it and to support me in seeing the beauty of life.. I spend about 3 hours a day !!

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping?
- This is tough.. as I have always been an optimist.. I will always do whatever it takes to learn something... I guess it would be extraction!! oh!! and getting the right photo.. I am single and I don't have kids..so it's kinda challenging !! and I don't go through winter, autumn, spring here in Malaysia.. so theme kits drive me nuts!!!

The easiest?
- Visualizing the sketch in my head and then start scrapping!! (yes!! I am weird)

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
- I don't have a go to technique I am constantly experimenting with my CS5 on what I can do with it..Currently I would say TLP as my source of inspiration as my style has changed..
What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
- Constantly having me get out of the box and try out many different styles.. Yes!! I don't have one particular style.. My pages are quirky, eccentric and if you dropby my gallery at DST you will have a headache coz it's all so different !!

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? :thumbsups
- In the beginning , I was quite intimidated to be here at TLP as there are so many scrappers mainly the POLLYWOGS whom I have been stalking and I really admire their work since the beginning of my scrapping journey last year!! I registered but would NEVER post my layouts as I feel quite embarresed.. Only few months ago, I started posting my pages here ... And I found out that they won't bite.. and they are really friendly!! I am hoping that TLP will be my next home .. yes!! I wanna be a POLLYWOG!!!

Feel free to ask if you wanna findout more about anything!!

Love,
IKISSEDTHEFROGANDIKNOWIT (my new name)

How long have you been scrapping?
Paper scrapped starting in 2003, but just did a little. Started digi in late 2008.

Did you paper scrap first?
Yes, I did one album about my wedding, and another album about my pregnancy and my son's first year.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I got some paper supplies as a wedding shower gift.

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
Taught myself.

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
After about a year of doing digi scrapping.

How often do you scrap?
At least once a week ... but I can have breaks of several weeks as well, when I don't scrap at all.

How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
A couple hours.

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping?
Wishing I could buy everything I want.

The easiest?
I'm not sure.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
When the creativity isn't flowing, I just give myself a break for a while and clean the house. After a week or two I'll be ready again.

What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
The creative outlet.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
It's my favorite place for papers

How long have you been scrapping? Since 2000, when my first child was born.
Did you paper scrap first? Yes, I started digi in 2007
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?Had my first child and seemed like the perfect way to document her life.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? Self taught
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? Not long after I started digi. I think I got my first CT in 2008
How often do you scrap? I try to do at least something everyday through the week. I try to stay off the computer on the weekend so I can be with family.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout?a couple hours, although it can actually take me days to get it finished because I have to do a little here and there when my 4 year old and new little one let me.
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? Hardest is definitely the journaling. I can have a page put together very quickly but it will sit in photoshop for days because I just can't get my story down. I feel like I say the same things over and over and wish I could write better. The easiest thing is design. Now that I pretty much only use templates I don't have the problem of trying to figure out a design!
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? Templates would definitely be mine.
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? It's relaxing and allows me to be creative and also record the stories of our family for us to remember in years to come.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I was lured in by the awesome BYOC they do every month.

Did you paper scrap first? No! lol I have one poor looking paper scrapbook I was required to make about my senior year of high school for a class and that sad little thing I keep hidden.
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? I started by using the stuff to make forum signatures and one day I just decided to try using the stuff for what it was meant for.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? Self-taught with a few stupid questions thrown in
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? spring 2008 I was invited to join my first team
How often do you scrap? every day....
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? hour or two, any longer than that and my adhd overcomes
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? Hardest - Knowing when to stop adding things to a page, Easiest - Layering
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? I have a board on Pinterest full of paper scrapbook pages for when my head needs a kickstart
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? I can make a mess that no one will get upset about. lol

And I discovered The Lilypad through Kate's doodles and Jacque's stuff.

I so love reading this thread!! :beat

How long have you been scrapping?
You know, looking back, I was always attracted to scrapbook-y kinds of things: documenting with photos and photo albums, journaling, collecting memories, keeping ephemera and notes and such. But I didn't really *identify* those things as documenting at the time. And I didn't actually start scrapbooking until shortly after DG and I married.

Did you paper scrap first?
Yes, and badly. But I still loved it. I scrapped traditionally for about 3 years until I discovered digi in 2008. And I was smitten from the first click. It was like coming home, creatively. I could explore and grow and play and it inspired me even more deeply to document memories and tell my story.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I am in love with the whole idea of scrapbooking as documenting history. I love journaling and the process of remembering. And scrapbooking infuses all the things I love most: family, tradition, history, faith, play. When I came to a time in my life when being deliberate about The Remembering mattered to me, scrapbooking was the answer.

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
Self-Taught.

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
How often do you scrap?

Yes. :beat I began scrapping on Creative Teams about one month after I found and fell in love with digi.

How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
Ages. I'm a very meticulous scrapper and very much made of molasses. My process is just a slow one. So never less than a couple hours. Most take me many hours. Sometimes spread out over days.

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest?
Because of my scrapping style, I struggle with title work. The story/journaling is the easy part for me.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
If I'm feeling particularly mojoless it's often because I'm doing a little too much comparing (of myself to other people's awesomeness). So I look for inspiration in color, music, non scrap-related products, nature. Or I focus in on my family and soaking up time with them, taking a break from thinking about creative things.

What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
I love the storytelling and recording my family's history. And I so love the relationships I've built through scrapbooking. True friends, true family.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
In short, Amy Martin. She invited me to be a Polly during the very first Polly call, and then invited me to join as a designer two years ago. TLP is my creative home and family. And it's only gotten better in the time since I first fell in love with it. Awesomer and awesomer and more and more like home.

How long have you been scrapping?
since 2001

Did you paper scrap first?
yes, started digiscrapping in 2005 after dd was born!

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I originally started to make a gift for the in-laws and then got hooked. I needed a creative outlet!

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
pretty much self-taught. as in, read lots of magazines, stalked tons of online websites and gleaned information from those who were bigger and better than me! as for digi, when a friend got me started, I bugged her continuously for help with PS!

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
started doing that with paper scrapping back in the day and when I went digi, a friend who had just started designing snagged me for her team, which was sweet as heck, because my beginning digi layouts were.....well.

How often do you scrap?
daily. though I've gone through periods of not scrapping for months...forcing it is bad.

How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
anywhere from 30 mins to days.

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest?
This question is hard! I guess the hardest thing for me, since going digi, is keeping things simple and clean. I'm a seriously messy scrapper, but with a method to the madness, I have trouble not following design rules.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
I like masks and foto templates to jumpstart my creativity. or a new kit. Or new pictures. :D I love playing with OOB techniques and adding tons of blends and artsy elements to the traditional look.

What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
letting go, being creative and having FUN!

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
when looking for a new 'home', a friend mentioned TLP. I'd been to the site way back when it opened, but not since. When I started browsing the store last year, I found Sahlin Studios and got stuck. So basically, it's Krista's fault and I couldn't be happier about that!

How long have you been scrapping? Since 2009
Did you paper scrap first? Yes
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? I started paper scrapping when I was living in the US, to document my life abroad.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? Teach myself
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? late 2009
How often do you scrap? Now? a couple nights a week, at least
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? 1.5hrs
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? The hardest is minimalist LO's, with only a few elements... I can never make it look right. The easiest..... layers, lots and lots of layers.
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? Browsing galleries
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? Documenting my son's life from his childhood.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? mommatrish kept raving about it and lured me in here using some of the awesome templates to be found here.

Thanks everyone for answering my questions! It's great to get to know all of you better.

I realized that I just interrogated everyone else without sharing myself -- so here are my answers...

How long have you been scrapping? About a year, although I dabbled in it very briefly back in 2008.
Did you paper scrap first? Nope, I went straight to digi. This caused a bit of confusion for me about templates, since I wasn't familiar with the concept of "sketches" -- where you figure out the layout structure, and then make the page with your elements. I didn't realize that the placeholders on digital templates were just placeholders to be replaced with "real" elements -- I thought you were supposed to clip papers to all of them. Let me tell you, this made for some very ugly early layouts... whooops!
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? I made a couple of photobooks on Shutterfly when we were living in Alaska back in 2007, and when we got our first puppy, Yukon, I wanted to make a "baby book" for him, documenting his life with us while we were living it. I loved having the Shutterfly books, but I found it frustrating to make them because I always wanted them to be more and more customized. I found a scrapbooking program in 2008, I think it was Memory Mixer, but I found it awkward to use, and I abandoned it pretty quickly. Then last year we went on an amazing trip to Israel, and I really wanted to make a custom album for our trip. That's when I started "scrapping" in Photoshop Elements. I've been hooked ever since.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? Both. I took a Jessica Sprague beginner class when I first started, and made my first album mostly through trial and error. Last spring I started taking Jana Morton's blending classes at Creative Passions, and made huge improvements - the learning curve was really steep! Now I love finding new classes and tutorials -- like Peppermint's amazing shadowing class. Moving to Photoshop was one of the best decisions I made over the summer.
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? I didn't know there was such a thing until a few weeks ago. I always assumed that the designers were the ones who made the cool advertisements!
How often do you scrap? It depends on how busy the rest of my life is, but I try to scrap at least a couple of times a week.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? Hours, but I'm slowly getting faster.
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? The hardest thing for me is choosing an overall layout design. The easiest thing for me is blending, probably because I've had so much practice.
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? Not yet, this is something I'm working on. I like going over my photos to find a theme or idea I want to highlight that I can translate visually, but I am also enjoying looking at galleries to get scraplifting ideas, and now I'm really enjoying the challenges here at TLP!
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? I love spending time looking at our photos and reliving those memories, and then elevating those into a piece of art that I can enjoy!

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I heard about TLP by listening to Peppermint on The Digi Show! I started shopping here, and watching the forum and everyone seemed so friendly, I decided to jump right in.

How long have you been scrapping? Just since May 2011
Did you paper scrap first? Nope
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? Clickin Moms - there was a discussion going and I just happened to click on it. It landed me at CatScrap - and that is where I started.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? I taught myself. I knew photoshop for the most part, so it was easy to pick up the basics. I however took quite a while to add drop shadows LOL
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? My first gigs were Blue Heart Scraps and Polka Dot Plum, I started pretty much right away - in May 2011 - because I got an invite to join.
How often do you scrap? Constantly LOL. Mostly on the weekends now though because of homeschooling and work.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? Ug this is terrible, but at least an hour. I used to really kick the pages out quick and was proud of it, but now I am such a perfectionist and realllly slow. I have to make sure everything is just perfect. I sometimes wish I could do them faster, but then I look at my old pages and remember why they were fast LOL.
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? Stopping is the hardest thing. And also staying "caught up." The easiest is just the fun part- playing in photoshop and adjusting things till I love them.
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? I usually use templates, kits, and photos for inspiration. Like Sunday I took my kids for a photo shoot, so now I will be inspired to scrap till all those are done. Same with my daughter's bday, my boys taekwondo belt ceremony, etc. I get in a slump when I run out of awesome pictures or when I get caught up on the events going on. I find that when I try to scrap older photos, I don't have as much fun because back them I had a crappy camera and wasn't as good at photography, so my pics just don't make the pages look as good.
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? That it is fun and my addiction, that it combines my love for photography with being creative and making memories for my kids to keep.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I happened upon it through seeing some kits on DST in the enabling thread.

How long have you been scrapping?
Forever - digi since my oldest was born. Paper since 2000.
Did you paper scrap first?
Yep
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I needed a creative outlet while on maternity leave and I liked to scrapbook, but hated scissors and glue. Nothing stayed stuck down. It was a total PITA. A friend introduced me to digital scrapbooking and I was HOOKED!
Did you take classes or teach yourself?
I am a graphic designer by day - so I play with photoshop and other Adobe products quite regularly!
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
Shortly after I started scrapbooking.
How often do you scrap?
A couple times a week.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
I have no clue - 1 hour or more. Sometimes less. Sometimes things speak to me and it all comes together very fast.
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest?
Hardest - I don't know. Easiest - scrapping the story.
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
Templates or scraplifting people if my mojo is in a slump. Oh and CHALLENGES, too. ♥
What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
Telling my story. Beautiful papers.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
I CT-ed for GMD a long time ago & she ended up here and so did I. I love the mix of designers here. They feed my artsy side.

How long have you been scrapping? Uh, since September.

Did you paper scrap first? Not really, but I hoarded paper supplies. I used to art journal a lot a few years ago and I would hoard paper supplies to use in my journal. I did a lot of rubber stamping.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? I was looking for a baby book for my first baby, but I didn't like anything I found. Then I decided to design my own, then I started to look for some inspiration and stumbled onto digital scrapbooking.

Did you take classes or teach yourself? I'm a self-taught photoshop user, so I pretty much already knew my way around. (Though I never discovered the clipping mask until I started scrapping, lol.) I haven't taken any scrapping classes, but I did take Chelle's design class and loved it.

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? This month! I pretty much started applying for a few right away and then sweet Penny let me join the Scrapstacks team and Scooty invited me to be on her team. I'm loving getting to know other scrappers and designers better.

How often do you scrap? I've been scrapping and/or designing pretty almost daily since September. I don't always get a layout done, and some days are too busy, but I basically always have PS open these days.

How much time do you typically spend on a layout? It varies wildly. Sometime everything just clicks and I get one done really fast. Sometimes I'll add a lot of intricate shape work and spend a lot of time shadowing. It depends on my mood, what kit I'm using, if I'm trying out something new and if the scrap mojo is flowing.

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? Alphas. Convincing myself to use them. :) I'm slowly coming around, but at first I was like, uh, we have these things called fonts? I've since realized that Alphas can be a great shortcut or add a lot to a page. Also, clustering, but I like playing around wit it.

The easiest? Journaling and layout. I was a journalism major and I currently spend a lot of time in print design, so those are both second nature.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
Challenges. I love challenges. I think part of the reason I progressed so quickly in scrapping is that I did every challenge I could for a while.

What is your favorite thing about scrapping? Complete creative freedom and no mess! I've been doing some sort of freelance design for I think something like 15 years, but I've pretty much always done either web design and print design and there are so many limitations to both. I feel like scrapbooking has just let me hit my creative groove.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I think I first found the shop because of One Little Bird. Peppermint's designs and Liz of Paislee Press's designs were what really got me into scrapbooking in the first place. I loved their clean style. I had been posting at their previous shop, but they were literally the only two designers I had purchased there, so when they came here (which was home to a bunch of designers I liked) it was a no brainer.

How long have you been scrapping?
I started scrapbooking sometime in high school, so early 2000s.

Did you paper scrap first?
Yep. Although, even as a teenager, I was really interested in making "graphics" but I never had Photoshop or anything. I used my mom's versions of Microsoft Digital Image Suite for a long time to make certain things. I downloaded GIMP after I had my son in 2008 so I could make profiles and siggies for a parenting site. Then I discovered digital scrapbooking but wasn't very good so I only made pages once in a while. The end of last year is when I started getting serious and making sure I was using quality supplies. I decided I was going to actually put together an album this year.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I like to create things and have always taken a lot of photos. I needed somewhere to keep them all and I liked being able to tell a little story with them.

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
Self-taught.

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?

How often do you scrap?
A few times a week if I have the time.

How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
A few hours. I try not to go over that.

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest?
The hardest thing sometimes is that I don't have any friends who do it, too, so it feels pretty lonely. And losing sleep because I would rather be sitting here when it's quiet and everyone is asleep, but I still feel like I spend too much time sitting at my computer! The easiest thing now is that I realized I don't have to add too much stuff to my page if I don't want to. I feel like I've found my style and it's ok if I am not good at clustering. It's easier to know when I'm done that way.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
I have a variety of places. I work at a bookstore so I go through magazines there and write down stuff I think is neat. I also have a few books and magazines of my own, and of course there's always Pinterest!

What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
I love digital scrapbooking because I like pretty things. So I can spend a little money and have a digital product forever and not have to worry about using it up. I have a bunch of paper scrapping things that have literally just been sitting in my basement for years because I'm always afraid it's never the perfect project to use it on. In general, I'm just a big fan of the creative outlet.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
It all started with a speed scrap. :) The Digi Show had encouraged people to join some forums so I thought I'd try it.

How long have you been scrapping?
If you count the scrapbooks I made with those awful "magnetic" albums in the 1970s, that long. I started paper scrapping around 1993, and started digi scrapping in 2010, I think.

Did you paper scrap first?
Yes. See above.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I've always loved books, and taking pictures. I used to make sewn books and art books in college, and back then I liked to use transparencies of photos and blue print/brown print processes directly on paper. So cool! But graphics computers in the mid 1980s were, shall we say, not terribly advanced. It took until 2010 to realize how far digital had advanced when I kept seeing digi layouts in various scrapbooking magazines. Then I went looking. I wasn't in love with paper scrapping anyway. I LOVE paper. But not the mess with two small kids!

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
I searched for tutorials online, but never took an actual class. I will credit Cathy Zielski & one of her Vimeo videos for making my light bulb go off about layers!

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
June 2011. I didn't have the confidence to try out before then.

How often do you scrap?
I try to do at least two a week on average. When I'm on fire, I'll do one a day, sometimes two. (in one rare case, three!)

How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
Usually 3-4 hours, sometimes more, but not less than that, usually.

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest?
The hardest part is getting started. I enjoy scrapping, and digital art. It's a weird thing with me. The easiest? Is once I get started I have a good idea what I want to do. Then fine-tuning the layout so that I like it takes a while.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
My photo files are my first inspiration. Right up there are the kits/elements, etc. My brain matches what I want to say about a particular photograph or idea and weds it with what I'm working with.

What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
Scrapping itself--the flexibility of the tool. I couldn't do so many things I wanted to do with paper scrapping. But with the computer, I can fit what I see onto the screen. The digiscrapping world--it's like being back in art school, or in an art class, where just about all the other students are learning, are friendly, and encouraging and the creativity bubbling over is a joy.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
I think I found TLP a couple years ago, when I went hunting for forums, etc and digging up info/etc about digital scrapbooking. I hung out at another store for about a year until I realized their style wasn't really *my* style (& my favorite designer there moved to another store). And TLP caught my eye & I fell in love with the funkiness, the talent, the sense of humor and all that.

And that's it!

How long have you been scrapping? digi, around 2.5 years
Did you paper scrap first? on occasion..i kept all my ticket stubs and stuff, but never had much motivation to do much with them. something about using my computer (something that already pulls a lot of my attention) made it a natural new hobby.
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? my mom had given me a year subscription to smilebox, and i started scrapping pictures of my boyfriend and I's first year together. After that year, I decided I wanted some creative control (the smilebox had the equivalent of quickpages, but weren't really meant to be personalized)
Did you take classes or teach yourself? I used my limited photoshop knowledge from work and applied it. The rest came with time!
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? I dont have enough time to commit to anything like that right now =/
How often do you scrap? not as much as i should. I do more shopping than scrapping lol
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? time slips away from me when i find the motivation to scrap my memories, so sometimes I'll give one page an entire hour!
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? picking papers is hard for me..i tend to open several and debate them throughout the entire scrapping process. I'm really happy it's all digital, because I can be pretty indecisive!
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? I try to let the pictures inpire the page, but templates are a big help!
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? the finished product. my boyfriend and i are in a long distance relationship, so when i miss him, i have a book of memories to pull out!

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? the very first kit i ever bought was by a former Lillypad lady!

How long have you been scrapping? Since June of this year
Did you paper scrap first? No, I have never made a paper layout but want to, it seems overwhelming!
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? Project Life, I started that project in January and started getting more interested in the story behind the pictures.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? I learned mostly by teaching myself and doing challenges.
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? No part of any CT.
How often do you scrap? Almost every day or every other day.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? 1 or 2 hours at the most 3!
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? The hardest thing is the journaling, I feel like I'm not that good at expressing myself through words but wanna continue learning. The easiest thing is the photos and memories, I have tons of those, with two kids there is always a lot going on!
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jump start your inspiration? I love challenges, like the challenges here to get me going, sometimes even browsing the galleries.
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? The memories that I want to look back on!

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I joined in June during the Summer Bucket List, that was actually my first layout I posted with that challenge!

I still have a long way to go and I think I still have to find my style.

How long have you been scrapping?
I've been digi scrapping for about 6 years

Did you paper scrap first?
Just a tiny bit. I did a few pages.

What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start?
I saw an article about digi scrapping in a scrapping magazine and I was so intrigued. I had to learn!

Did you take classes or teach yourself?
Taught myself

If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that?
Maybe a year or so later. I was asked to join a few ct's...I'm actually still with one of those ladies! :)

How often do you scrap?
3 - 4 days a week. It really depends. Sometimes I make 3 - 4 layouts in one day, other times I scatter them through the week.

How much time do you typically spend on a layout?
Maybe an hour. Sometimes more depending on if there is a lot of journaling or processing of photos, etc...

What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest?
the design is the hardest, so I use templates almost exclusively. The easiest? hmmmm...not sure.

Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration?
Galleries mostly....here at TLP is my favorite gallery. It's just filled with inspiration!

What is your favorite thing about scrapping?
Recording memories

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP?
I found the gallery years ago and it was my main source for inspiration and I purchased quite a bit too!! Then I applied for a polly spot, made it and made it my home. I had to step down last year for personal reasons, but it is still my main home. I love the team, the designers, all the lovely ladies that hang out here...It's where I feel at home!

How long have you been scrapping? I made my first scrapbook in 8th grade (1990). Went digital in Nov 2004.
Did you paper scrap first? Yes. I sold Creative Memories for a year before we moved overseas, and I brought an entire suitcase of paper supplies with me when I moved in 2002. Brought most of it back to the States with me in 2006, but my photos were all scrapped {paper} compltely up to date until Jack was born in 2005.
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? I love to talk about me. : ) It's how I'm gonna live forever.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? Definitely self-taught. And I have a whole bunch of layouts created at 72 dpi to prove it.
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? Janet Philips was my first CT; we had met in real life, so she took pity on me and let me be a part of her first creative team. It was in the summer of 2006, almost 2 years after I discovered digital.
How often do you scrap? If by "scrap" you mean waste time on the Internet looking at scrap-related things, every day. But I only make one or two layouts a week these days.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? Probably 1 1/2-2 hours
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? Hardest: title work & embellishing Funnest: Mixing papers
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? Templates, definitely, and I keep a list of layouts I want to make/photos I want to scrap and a list of kits I need to use.
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? Feeling productive without having to actually do any work, and feeling like I'm part of a community without actually having to talk to people in real life.

Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I'm a great stalker, and there was much buzz about this new shop a few years ago...

How long have you been scrapping? I've been doing scrappy things for as long as I can remember - since middle school! But scrapping earnestly since 2007.
Did you paper scrap first? Yes, for 3 years. And now I'm getting more into hybrid.
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? I wanted to make a wedding album. Then while I was doing that I met friends who scrapped and I never looked back.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? Self-taught.
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? I was asked to join my first CT (a store CT) 2 months after I started digi scrapping. I've been on various store and designer CTs ever since.
How often do you scrap? It varies. Sometimes 1-2 times a week, sometimes almost daily. It depends on my mojo and how much else I have going on.
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? 45-90 minutes.
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? I really don't find anything hard about it, unless I'm not feeling inspired. Journaling probably comes easiest for me.
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? I love to find inspiration here at TLP (gallery and challenges, and the variety of product available here is inspiring too!) and on Pinterest.
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? Creative release and recording our story.

How long have you been scrapping? I don't know anymore. I think maybe it was around 2001 that I started?
Did you paper scrap first? Yes for a few years
What got you involved in scrapping/why did you start? My sister told me about it. I started because I had just had a baby & was pregnant with a 2nd. It seemed like a good time to start if I was going to.
Did you take classes or teach yourself? I taught myself. I just basically found layouts I liked and tried to copy. It took a long time for me to develop my own sense of style.
If you have been part of any designer CTs, when did you start doing that? For a long time I tried and was turned down. But I think it's been several years now that I've CT'd regularly.
How often do you scrap? When I can. It used to be a lot more. Now I have to steal scrap time. :(
How much time do you typically spend on a layout? Too much. It's what I wish I could change the most. No matter if the layout is simple or complicated, it still seems to take me at least 2 hours from start to finish...or more.
What is the hardest thing for you about scrapping? The easiest? The hardest thing for me is being able to locate stuff. I think sometimes I could probably do a better page if I could actually pull out the things I probably have but can't pinpoint. For instance, if I know a certain type of alpha or paint splatter would look good, but can't find it, rather than digging forever, I just substitute. At that point, my pages take a turn from what I envision to what they end up being.
Do you have a "go-to" technique/place/product/inspiration source to jumpstart your inspiration? I tend to start with photo placement. And if I'm stuck or in a rut, I go to pinterest most of the time. I keep a Layout Inspiration board that always seems to help.
What is your favorite thing about scrapping? 2 things. The creative outlet, and the ability to look back later. I love both of those aspects of this hobby.
Oh, and one more -- how did you come to join TLP? I don't remember anymore. I think I wanted to be on Kaye's CT. I joined the community so I could stalk her. Sadly, the first time a CT call rolled around I got a No. But I loved the community (and store) so much that I stayed anyway. :)
