Having Your Say | Pad Patter 10/13

Yes I do! Though the next one coming (november 22) is not the greatest timing with the coming baby and having high blood pressure everything is uncertain. I'm considering that I might empower on of my family members to vote for me though.

I always vote. From the time I was 10, I couldn’t wait to be eligible to vote. I vote in all local, state and national elections.
Interesting you can vote so young where you live:) That's one way to get the youth involved from the start!

Those smaller elections are often way more important that the big ones!

Yes, this. I have always voted in the federal and provincial elections (in Canada), but until recently, I hadn't always paid enough attention to the local elections (for mayor, city councillors, school board trustees, and so on). But it really matters who's in charge at city hall, since they look after the boring but vital stuff (garbage & recycling, snowplowing, parks and recreation) that affect our everyday lives.

They're also the feeder people for the bigger elections. Most people I talk to don't realize that it's the grass roots community posts that start a person on their career. If we want better people up top, we need better people at the beginning! We had a county supervisor who promised us the world and everything we as a small community wanted and we voted him in. He immediately did everything we wanted him NOT to do and in the next election he was bounced right out of that position!!! No way would I want a man of his ilk up higher in government!!!
