I developed a foot issue (probably plantar fasciitis)
I'm the opposite of Jenn. I have a minimus type shoe, and it didn't help. I ended up just buying a heel insert, and using it to cushion my heel (one in each shoe otherwise my hip hurt!). I stretched it when I got back from a walk (usually around 3.5-4 miles). It went away after a few months, and hasn't bothered me since.

But it wasn't officially diagnosed. It felt like I had stepped on a nail, and bruised my heel straight to my ankle. So, your mileage may vary!

You two, and a couple others, give me hope it will go away. My doctor made it sound hopeless, basically saying it's just something you have to live with, nothing can be done. Which I felt rebellious about and didn't want to believe. It does seem to be improving very very very slowly. I bought Nike shoes and added supportive inserts, with the advice of the shoe saleslady, and my feet seem to really like them. At home I wear some relaxed flats, but they have some arch support too.

I almost made it out on a walk today -- I mean I'm dressed for it! -- but it is very rainy and I've been curled up with a good book instead. :)

7 or 8 years ago, I was having trouble with one foot. At one of my chiropractor visits, he looked at it and said it was probably plantar fasciitis. His suggestion was to take an ace wrap and wrap the foot and going around the ankle to give it some stability and support. I have always worn Dr Scholl's shoes and he felt the wrap with these shoes would be fine but if it continued to bother me I should have it checked out by a doctor and/or specialist. So I did the wrap and within 2 months it no longer bothered me. Every once in awhile, it might bother me a little but I just pull out the wrap and within a couple of days it is better. The one thing I do though is never go barefoot. I always have something on my feet even in the house. I need support of some kind at all times.

And, I still wear only Dr Scholl shoes. I also have not worn high heels for over 20 years. Dr. Scholl has some pretty nice looking shoes these days including a small heeled sandal that can be used for dress up if needed. :)
