Fall Decorating or NOT? | Pad Patter 9.19

Ummm, @nrjanitz's Fall Farmer's Market Art Starts have me rethinking this whole "not decorating for fall" thing. Seriously, how gorgeous are these?!?!

I'm thinking they're going to have to get printed up and put into frames in my living room ASAP! How fun would a simple set of frames that could be changed out with the seasons be??!? Especially if there is a set for Christmas, too!

I didn't see this post until now, but hubby got out my fall decorations this afternoon and so I have a few fall touches here and there. It's late and dark in my house now . . . but I'll have to take some photos tomorrow. Nothing is on the front porch yet, but we are planning on adding at least one potted mum and maybe some pinecones. We'll see.

Oh yes, I decorate for Fall also, but I still have to pull mine out of the basement! :-)

I decorate a little because my kids want to. Actually, the last few years, they do most of it themselves. They wish we would buy new decorations though; everything we have is old. But with our finances the last few years, I balk at spending money on stuff that just sits in storage most of the year and sits out and collects dust for a holiday or season. My favorite part about decorating is cleaning up and packing away the decorations! Such a good feeling of organization and tidiness it brings me! This works out really well too, because the kids only want to do the decorating, not the putting away. :giggle

I can't wait to go back down south - maybe late October or early November - because in my observation, they decorate like crazy down there. No chance of snow or decorating out in the cold is my only explanation. ???

Yes, I decorate for fall!! I love it, I just (like 5 minutes ago) switched my wreath on my front door to my newly made wreath. I am not going full-fall just yet, because it doesn't feel like it yet, but I will in the next two weeks or so.
I always go all out in the colder seasons. I have never made a spring/easter/summer wreath before, so that says a lot about my decorating style as I have multiple for fall/halloween/christmas/winter. It is definitely a thing I picked up at home. Not so much the wreaths, but the decorating. I had a little christmas tree in my bedroom since I was little and it got bigger as I got bigger. ;)
I don't want to imagine my house without decorations. It's what makes my house my home.

(At home, all of the 'main' decorations like pillows, candle holders, etc where in twofold. We had a summery set and a wintery set. Then the seasonal things came on top of that.)

I used to decorate for every season back when I was a newlywed setting up house. I don't even know what decorations I have anymore. We're not home enough to either appreciate it or put it out; I don't even have any non-seasonal decorations, unless stacks of movies and books count.

I put outside decorations up on Halloween, and a few inside, because we host the families of some of the kids' friends for trick or treating (we live in a good trick-or-treating neighborhood) but those tend to go up the day of and come down the weekend after.

Same thing at Christmas -- the tree and a few decorations go up the day before our first party and came down the weekend after the last one.

We used to do a lot more, but I was overexcited about getting the kids involved in activities, and now we're either running around to those activities or just enjoying expectation-free downtime.

YES!!! My favorite time of year! I totally get into the fall candle mode too! Anything with apple in the scent!

I ahve a love/hate feeling with fall: it simply comes a bit too soon to me, summer is not so long around here.
But I love the coziness, the colors and the warm feeling it has.... So tricky tricky!!
Fall decoration is therefore always a little bit around here...

Decorating for anything is just one area where I don't think I'm very talented. However, I went over to see a young friend's new apartment and she had decorated it so cute. She is on a tight budget, yet she did a great job. It has inspired me to try. Right now I'm still envisioning some things, but my husband had a stay in the hospital (explained on weekend plans thread) so I haven't done anything yet -- but I am going to try soon! I'll have before and after photos and so a page! I usually only decorate for Christmas!
