As I was browsing Kristin's store over the past week I kept thinking of this kit and it has inspired today's pad patter.

What do you do to be more earth friendly?

On the regular I recycle all my paper, plastic, cans, glass (fortnightly collection) & food waste (weekly collection) in our local government provided service, I take my soft plastics to our local drop off point for soft plastic collection, I use public transport for 95% of all travel, I borrow books from the library rather than buy new, I shop second hand whether it be from a thrift store or ebay type situation, I use reusable cups, cutlery and water filter bottle when I am out and about.....I'm sure I do more but thats most of what I do that is "green"

I do a lot of thrift shopping. We also recycle all our cans, paper products and such. When my kids were little I cloth diapered. We also had a huge garden (now I live in an appartment and sadly don't have the space).
But I walk a lot in the summer to save on gas and I car pool with friends. We Reuse a lot of our plastic containers or buy glass.

My small town has had recycling of paper, plastic and other materials since the 1980's. Each residence was given a red tub to put their recyclable items in. They are picked up the same day as the garbage collection. Used to be we could put anything on their list in the tub and they would sort when picking up. In the last several years, they obtained new trucks and only have 2 areas for items so they only collect plastic and paper/cardboard curbside. All other recyclables can be taken to huge containers near the public works building location. I still put out plastic every week (except when it snows/rains or is extremely windy). I keep cardboard boxes to collect the paper and cardboard items in and put them out when they get full. I do have a 2 car garage with only 1 car so have room to let them sit during the winter. I bought this kit when it came out and did a layout about it. Thought it was in my gallery but it isn't.

I also shred paper documents and they accept that as well. I had let the paper stack up in the garage for several years so last summer I worked on getting it all shredded and put out. Did a layout using this kit.

I definitely don't do enough.

I do recycle paper, plastic, cartons, cans, etc. The city provides coloured bins (blue, green, black), with weekly curbside pickup, so there's really no excuse not to.

I mostly use resuable cups and cutlery, but not always. I'm trying to stop using plastic bags from the grocery store, but I need to be better about remembering to bring my own reusable bags.

Does anyone here compost? I know I should be composting, but it sounds a bit daunting

I collect the bags in my garage and take them to Wal-Mart every couple of months. I've never been big on using paper/plastic cups on a daily basis, regular glassware for me or drink it straight from a plastic bottle that gets recycled.

We recycle, use our own shopping bags, use stainless steel water bottles instead of buying plastic ones all the time, we shop local as much as possible, we donate clothes that we can no longer wear, we compost, we don't travel by airplane and never go on any cruise ships.

We recycle and try not to buy things if we have things that can be fixed. They banned single use plasics here starting Jan 1 so no choice but to use reusable bags and paper straws, etc. I try to reduce where possible - I know we could be better though!

Oh yes, I forgot I also use my own reusable bags when out shopping

Fun idea from a kit Jennifer! I like to pick up trash outside and recycle.

I recycle almost everything and I always use my own bag when grocery shopping. Buy books second hand. Clean everything with bakingsoda and use vineager for softener. Will start making my own salve and other herbals for my body instead of all that medicine I use. I hope it will work. One day a week my SIL and my daughter take me to the grocery store in a car but other than that it is bus or when I get better my bike. I don't shower as often as when I worked.
I have my own bottle with me if we are going somewhere.
In Sweden we have recycled for so many years that it is natural for us. We have big stations everywhere. Mine is 10 meter from my front door.

Before throwing anything out I ask can it be mended, and if not can it be used to create something else?

I recycle almost everything, and I try to avoid plastic, I've crocheted my own shopping bag, actually I scrapped a page about it

We recycle about everything. We forgot to take out the bin last time, but no worries, it's not even half full LOL We recycle papers, cartons, plastic, metals, glass. These can be deposited at a collection site behind our grocery store. Also have a bin for electrical stuff that we from time to time go to the larger collection site a bit outside town.

I hardly ever shop anything really other than food. Can't remember when I bought me some clothes last? Also, whenever I feel the "need" for something new, I stop and think if I already have something that could work for the purpose already.

I don't buy grocery bags, I bring my own. I've even knitted my own produce bags:

I'm a vegetarian. I could go on on a long lecture on why that's better for the earth, but if you're interested, just google it.

I don't have a driving license, so, when I'm going somewhere on my own, I walk or take the bus. Hubby takes the bus to work most days. Once of twice in the week, when we both work at the same time, we take the car, but then we always do our grocery shoping on the way home to save us an extra trip.

We are having solar panels put n our house today! I’m excited about that change - living in Arizona where it’s sunny almost every day, it just makes sense. I have cut back on eating meat, we recycle and I use reusable water bottles.

I did read one discouraging thing recently - that plastic bags/film rarely gets actually recycled. We can’t put it in our recycle bin, so I have to collect it and then drag it to the grocery store to leave in their collection bins. But even with all that, I read that most of it just goes to the landfill anyway because it is hard and expensive to recycle. We really need plastic manufacturers and retailers to step up and figure out a workable system for plastic recycling (or get rid of plastic).

I recycle paper and plastic. Our county no longer recycles glass, but you can take it to special "purple" bins where a second party recycles it. I invariably forget to bring my reusable bags into the store, so you'll see me reloading my grocery cart with loose items that I bag when I get to the car.

Our small office complex doesn't have recycling, so I haul our office recycles home. Unfortunately the county removed the big recycling dumpsters from the location near our office, so when I shred old legal documents, etc. I have to bag it up and toss it in the dumpster. I used to bag it up, haul it to the recycling dumpsters, empty the bags into the paper dumpster (cover), and bring the bags back to reuse. I can't haul it home b/c the "shreds" would go flying all over when my cart is dumped into the truck. :(

We used to have recycling but it was deemed too expensive by the trash collector. We still have two cans. One of them is picked up on Thursdays and it's for yard waste. On Friday, our regular trash is picked up and at that time you can use the yard waste bin for regular trash.

I've long bought things second hand, from clothes to home decor.

I recently put linen napkins in our guest bathroom so they don't have to use the hand towel we use.

I donate items I'm getting rid of to Jay's aunt, who places them on Facebook Marketplace and makes a bit of extra money for her and her family (she's so big-hearted and takes care of a large number of family members, so it's our way of helping with that).

I buy books second hand most of the time (although I'll admit I'm a sucker for clearance books at Books-A-Million) or get them from the library.

There are definitely many areas where I could improve, but this is where I'm at right now.

We recycle too, paper, boxes, glass, cans.
I always take my tupperware bottle filled with water on outings.
Always use cloth bags when shopping.
Buy second hand, donate clothes etc.
So much food, fruit comes in single use plastic here though. That really should change.

The big thing for me is I stopped buying water in single use plastic bottles. Instead I bought a bunch of metal water bottles in various sizes + a water filter.

There is a good article here about bags - plastic, paper, and cotton/other https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/sustainable-shoppingwhich-bag-best/

In many ways plastic bags are the most eco-friendly - as long as one does not throw them into the garbage. I use plastic bags and recline them.

I am happy to live in an area where we can recycle a lot of garbage - paper, tin cans, plastic etc. We have curb side pick-up.
