Hi everyone and welcome to the December challenges! This month I have the priviledge of bringing you the Journaling Challenge. And for the Journaling Challenge, I want you to write about a past, present or upcoming holiday that you celebrated or will celebrate in a way different than you normally would. For years we lived in Ontario, and would spend every Christmas travelling back to Alberta to celebrate the holidays with our families. But there were a couple years there that we celebrated in a different way. Our nephew was living near us, going to school in Toronto, so we decided to celebrate the holidays at home so that he wouldn't be alone. We brought out our good china and flatware, and went all out on a fun celebration and enjoyed each others company for the holidays, instead of rushing home to split time between different sides of the family. It was a really special time. So, for the Journaling Challenge: - journal about a past, present, or upcoming holiday that you celebrated or will celebrate in a unique way. It does not have to be Christmas, it can be any holiday that you celebrated or will celebrate in a non-traditional manner. Because this is a journaling challenge, please use at least 5 sentences to describe your holiday. Here's my page for a little inspiration: As always, please remember the monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the December Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread (please use the share BB IMG code found on the right side in the gallery). The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges). I'm looking forward to seeing your pages!
Perfect challenge for me, usually we have a big dinner together as a family, even if the girls have to go to their dads, they usually stop by & I have friends over, this year totally different, but still wonderful in it's own way. I spent Thanksgiving with my awesome dogs!
This was a lovely challenge, thank you!! Here is my journaling: In 2006 Kaitlin and I went to Thailand for Christmas. We landed in Bangkok & spent our first night there. The most surprising thing (other than Dairy Queen putting corn in their ice cream!) was that the Christmas trees and decorations were of every colour imaginable, except the traditional red and green. Orange, pink, lime green, & yellow were the colours of the season. We loved it! We flew to Phuket and spent about a week there, before travelling to the north. On Christmas Eve we had a fancy buffet meal and were entertained by little Thai children singing carols without really being able to speak English. It was delightful! We spent almost a month traveling through the country and were mesmerized by something new every time we turned around. We saw the place where the tsunami hit on Boxing Day in 2004, exactly 2 years before we stood on the shore & thought about all the lives lost. On New Year’s Eve, bombs exploded where we had been moments earlier. With all the good and the bad, it was a trip of a lifetime which changed our perspectives and made us feel grateful for our freedom & home.
When my daughter played field hockey there was a tournament in Palm Springs over Thanksgiving. My husband and daughter went and my son and I stayed in Pennsylvania
