**Closed** Game: Picture This! **Winner Announced**

My son has spent the last 10 weeks (tomorrow is his last day!) interning at the Mohonk Preserve in New York State. We were able to go up there over the fourth of July weekend. He's being housed in a Preserve house (sharing with a few other summer employees). The house is literally right off of a walking trail. His "front yard" (about the distance of a basketball court from his front door) is a popular spot for hikers to pause and sit. There is a bench and a few rocks. His "back yard" (about the same distance in the opposite direction) has a huge beautiful pavilion where they host weddings and other events. Here are two pictures I took showcasing this stunning view from his "front" and "back" yard! He's been in heaven all summer.

What a great opportunity for your son and WOW - that vista is spectacular! I love the one with the little bit of the railing in there which gives you more of the mood of the place.

I was planning to upload the pic of "my bobcat", but that was in my backyard so didn't really represents a trip to nature. This was always a favorite hike of ours, you get the sound from the creek, and beautiful scenery with the red rock formations and the lush green, with changing leaves in the fall -- the West Fork of Oak Creek in Sedona. It has become such a popular trail, that we hadn't been in forever. These are from 2010 when my SIL was visiting and hubby was still around.

This is one of my favorite pictures. I have many, actually, but today I came across it by chance and thought it would be appropriate. It was taken in July 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. It was a time when we were really eager for a nature outing, in a place where you wouldn't encounter too many people, and to try to enjoy nature and fresh air a little. Secaria Peak, not exactly a "peak", is about 1.5 hours by car from Bucharest. From where you leave the car, the route starts on a forest road and keeps it on a slight climb for about 20 minutes. You reach this hilltop from where the landscape is a wonder. In front of you is Paltinul Lake and all around are green hills and valleys, with the Baiului Mountains starting behind you, and behind them you can see a little Costila, from Bucegi.

Oh gosh, Lisa, you made me want to do this hike again -- it's been decades since I was there but it is one of the most beautiful hikes in AZ! Love your photos of that enchanted place!

That looks like an absolutely perfect hike to me -- just a nice walk in the countryside with an amazing payoff with that view!

In 2013 we had a great time going tubing on the Gunnison River near the city of Gunnison. It was a fun time as about a dozen of us floated down the river. The river has some smooth parts but there were a few rapids. The cousins decided to "link their tubes" together when we came to the rapids and shoot the rapids in a pack... the first photo shows some the beautiful rocks and trees that we passed as we floated.

One favorite, I can't do it. Many of my nature photos are special not because they are great photos but because of what the photo represents to me. I don't have the best photos of Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon or even a Pacific City sunset but I do have hundreds of photos that have memories and emotions attached to them. What emotion is the best? Maybe the one that shows my husband's joy and reminds me of the moment at which I stopped my constant worry about his cardiac recovery. Seriously, the story is much better than the photo, but I love that photo. I'll share it here when I've created the layout.

This photo is from a recent rail bike tour with my friends, the first for all of us. I love adventures with my friends. I love dappled sun in a forest. I love early summer greens. I love a blue cloudless sky to contrast with those greens.

I love that the photo evokes such happy memories! I know what you mean - I took hundreds of photos of our trip to Korea in May and the ones I love the most are the ones that remind me of specific moments of fun or excitement that we had on the trip; not necessarily the best technical photos.

Loved looking at everyone's nature photos - so many gorgeous shots!
I take a lot of nature photos and to pick a favorite would be really hard! But here are three favorites from this year:

Wow, these are all amazing photos and I love how they are so different from one another!

The caves of St Beatus were on my bucket list for a while, we have been living in the country for the last 20 years, and finally everything lined up. I love caves, I have been to a cave first 40 years ago, and since then I have visited the caves in Georgia, UK, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia...

Scrolling through my LR catalog, I came across this... Our first vacation in Sicily. That day we visited the Villa Romana del Casa, one of the most beautiful villas from that period (320 AD)—with beautifully preserved mosaics. On the way back to our hotel, we drove through this beautiful landscape—it reminds me of a patchwork quilt...I still find it beautiful.

That is such a great cave! Love it! I love big caves but am definitely not cut out to be a spelunker crawling into small passages - it makes me anxious just thinking about it.

How gorgeous! The different tones on the rolling hills are amazing and I agree - like a quilt! I'm sure it would be beautiful when it greens up too!

Here's a photo of the golf cart path I walk on each morning. I am in awe of all the trees here in Georgia! I never imagined there would be so many trees here, I love walking the tree lined paths and streets seeing all the beautiful greenery and listening to the birds, frogs and insects in the trees.

Here is mine. At a local trail I noticed back in Feb 2024 that someone made this cat face with twigs and rocks on a freshly cut tree. I got such a kick out of it. So creative! And others must agree because people have kept it going ever since. The second picture I took last week.
