**Closed** Game: Picture This! **Winner Announced**

I'll go first.
It was July 2020 - the height of the pandemic - and we were stir crazy and trying to figure out how to vacation while still social distancing (remember that!?). So, we drove to an AirBNB in southern Utah and spent a week outside in nature. It was wonderful. One day we took a hike in a remote canyon in the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Park. And I do mean REMOTE -- it was 10 miles of brutally rough unpaved road (after 7 miles of paved road) to get there. But, it was totally worth it and I have such vivid memories of this hike. Including the rattlesnake that I almost stepped on until my daughter screamed STOP! Let's just say that the memories could easily have been bad memories of trying to get medical help that far from anything during a global pandemic. :giggle But nature (and the chonky snake) smiled on us that day and we survived with a slightly scary story and amazing photos to remember it.

Stunning sceneries but... my oh my, how scary!!!:eek::eek: :backing
Glad you were safe :-)

We love to go to national parks & explore our (close-ish) gorgeous world! Our most favorite was Moraine Lake in Alberta. In summer of 2018 we did a huge epic loop road trip through Lake Louise, then Calgary, then Waterton lakes in Alberta, then glacier national park in Montana then home.

One of my most favorite photos I've ever taken won an award with our hotel from lake louise too! We got up in the dark & watched the sunrise on the mountains- it was one of the most magical things I've ever experienced!

This is National Geographic worthy photo! No wonder you won an award! It's gorgeous!

This is a tall patch of wildflowers in my favorite color at Riverfront Park in Fredericksburg. I walk through this park frequently. This summer I noticed that they mowed a path through the large area of foliage next to the river and it's fun to walk through it. There are several different kinds of flowers and the bees are enjoying them too!

Does a photo on a page count?

This is a photo of the lake near our house. My favorite is going pedal kayaking on the lake but we haven’t done any of that this year which makes me sad. Hopefully we’re able to go soon before it gets too cold.
That is totally peaceful - I can see why you would love kayaking there. Beautiful shot!

This is one of my favorite photos ever. I took it during the pandemic, on April 23rd, 2020, while going for a walk alone, not far away from our house, because we weren't allowed to go far away! (crazy times, remember?). Anyway, I've scrapped this photo a million times, because I love the colors and how sharp it looks, even though at that time I had a cellphone with a mediocre camera. It may look like wild nature, but in fact it's just an unbuilt piece of land between two houses in a not so small town! I had to lean down in order to focus on the wildflower and not the houses around me!

It makes me happy that there is this little wildflower explosion in between houses! We need more of that. Your photo really captures the essense of wildfloewrs -- the variety and beautiful colors!

There's not much I like to do in the summer in Japan. Too hot and too humid for me but last year I was happy to go and see some lotus flowers in a huge pond not for from us.
All this green with those spots of pink are very refreshing.

I might even try to go again if my bad knees allow it.

Wowee - those lotus flowers are beautiful! I have a touch of trypophobia so I have to avert my eyes from the seed pods :giggle but I love the complementary colors in your photos!

I chose this photo, recent favourite. Nolan loves to take nature photos with our "big" camera. He loves to take the camera from us and snap away. Trying different shots and close ups. He get some great photos. I grab my cell phone and take a picture of him taking a photo! Love that he loves to be outdoors and experience nature!

I love this so much! How great that he loves to be out in nature taking photos - something you can appreciate together!

I'm so glad more place are letting wildflowers bloom. They are so beautiful and so good for insects and wildlife. This patch is just so happy and sunny!

 I had to google it because I hadn't heard about it. Sorry for the stress it causes you :giggle

No worries! Now that i know what it is, I can deal with it. The first time I had an episode from a photo I saw online, I had extreme anxiety for several days and had no idea why I couldn't stop thinking about it. I thought I was losing my mind! It was a relief when I learned that it is a recognized phobia, weird as it is!

Most of my nature photos are of nothing grand, unless you count the Oregon coast or sunsets--which tend to all look alike in the end. Most of my nature photos are flowers and small things. But I really like this photo of Alsea Falls. Not that it's particularly grand either, but I went to see this beautiful spot on a freezing cold day and no one was there, and I loved it.

I was truely lucky to live in New Zealand for 14 years in that time we did many trips around the islands . My favourite place of all time is Queens Town on the South Island but I couldnt go past Mt Ngauwihoe during winter which was about an hours drive away. It will look familiar as it was used in the Lord of The rings movies.

It looks like a lilypond.. wow gorgeous photos Nini!

Oh, I love this thread! Isn't nature just totally amazing?!!!

I take a lot of nature photos - I love forest photos and photos of flowers and animals. I chose this photo from a couple of years ago, cuz it's so funny. This little fellow is SO PROUD! He's just stolen the entire bird feeder. Imagine how happy he is, collected all that food. :giggle I was a bit mean though, and didn't let him keep it.

This one was an easy choice for me. Recently, on July 26 2025, I took a hike with some friends along the Teton Crest. The wildflowers were so amazing. Every time that I would think that I probably had seen the last of a field of flowers, I would be rewarded with a new view. I love the variety of colors of the Indian Paint Brush with the view of the back of the Teton mountain range in the back. What a blessing to see something that so many people who don't hike won't ever see. True it was 20 miles in one day but it was worth it!

What a beautiful spot and I love that feeling of being alone in nature so you can really appreciate it!

I really want to go to NZ some day - it is stunningly beautiful and your photos are amazing! My mother-in-law lived her whole life on the coast of British Columbia and I asked her once whether she ever stopped noticing how beautiful it was. She said that she still marveled at how beautiful the coast and mountains were all the time.
